2426 results about "Terpene" patented technology

Terpenes (/ˈtɜːrpiːn/) are a large and diverse class of organic compounds, produced by a variety of plants, particularly conifers, and by some insects. They often have a strong odor and may protect the plants that produce them by deterring herbivores and by attracting predators and parasites of herbivores. Although sometimes used interchangeably with "terpenes", terpenoids (or isoprenoids) are modified terpenes as they contain additional functional groups, usually oxygen-containing. Terpenes are hydrocarbons.

Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin vaccine

The invention provides an improved Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin vaccine composition, which advantageously provides immunity from infection after a single administration. The composition comprises an inactivated Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin and an adjuvant mixture, which, in combination, provide immunity from Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection after a single administration, and elicit an immune response specific to Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin and including cell-mediated immunity and local (secretory IgA) immunity. In a preferred embodiment, the adjuvant mixture comprises an acrylic acid polymer, most preferably CARBOPOL®, and a mixture of a metabolizable oil such as one or more unsaturated terpene hydrocarbons, preferably squalene or squalane, and a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer such as PLURONIC®. The vaccine composition may optionally include a preservative, preferably thimerosol and/or EDTA. In another embodiment, the invention provides an improved Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin vaccine composition, which advantageously provides immunity from infection after a single administration, and comprises an inactivated Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin and an adjuvant or adjuvant mixture, which, in combination, provide immunity from Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection after a single administration, and elicit an immune response specific to Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin and including cell-mediated immunity and local (secretory IgA) immunity, in combination with other vaccine components.

Terpene based pesticide treatments for killing terrestrial arthropods including, amongst others, lice, lice eggs, mites and ants

Pesticides for the extermination of terrestrial arthropods are disclosed which comprise formulations of a combination of terpenes in aqueous solutions which may be used together with citral. No resistance to the formulations of the invention has been seen. When used on the scalp or body for lice infestation no extended dwell time is required. The formulations do not have unpleasant odors. The formulations are directed towards providing topical preparations which may be used on the skin, scalp and hairy body parts of humans and animals, sprays for use directly against terrestrial arthropods, a dipping solution for combs and a laundry additive, amongst others.

Rubber composition for use in tires

A rubber composition for use in tires including from 60 to 120 parts by weight of a silica having a CTAB specific surface area of from 70 to 175 m2 / g and from 3 to 25 parts by weight of an aromatic modified terpene resin excluding terpene phenol resins per 100 parts by weight of a diene rubber including from 30 to 80 weight % of a terminal-modified styrene-butadiene rubber and from 10 to 50 weight % of a butadiene rubber. An average glass transition temperature of the diene rubber is −55° C. or lower and an average glass transition temperature of a component formed from the diene rubber, the aromatic modified terpene resin, and an optional plasticizer is −45° C. or lower.

Use of eco-friendly microemulsions in oil cleaning applications

An environmentally-friendly cleaning composition for oil cleaning comprising (a) a blend of dibasic esters, (b) one or more surfactants (c) and, optionally, (d) water or a solvent. The dibasic esters are be derived from a blend of adipic, glutaric, and succinic diacids, and, in one particular embodiment, the blend comprises dialkyl adipate, dialkyl methylglutarate and dialkyl ethylsuccinate, wherein the alkyl groups individually comprise a C1-C12 hydrocarbon group. The one or more surfactants are typically chosen from alcohol alkoxylate, an alkyl phenol ethoxylate, a terpene, a terpene alkoxylate or any derivates thereof. Optionally, additional components or additives including delaminates such as pinene and d-limonene, fragrances, whiteners, stabilizers, thickeners and the like can be added to the composition.
