Method and system for classifying an integrated circuit for optical proximity correction

A method and system for performing optical proximity correction (OPC) on an integrated circuit (IC) chip design is disclosed. The system and method of the present invention includes dividing the IC chip into a plurality of local task regions, identifying congruent local task regions, classifying congruent local task regions into corresponding groups, and performing OPC for each group of congruent local task regions.By identifying and grouping congruent local task regions in the IC chip, according to the method and system disclosed herein, only one OPC procedure (e.g., evaluation and correction) needs to be performed per group of congruent local task regions. The amount of data to be evaluated and the number of corrections performed is greatly reduced because OPC is not performed on repetitive portions of the IC chip design, thereby resulting in significant savings in computing resources and time.

Systems and methods for enhancing performance of a coprocessor

Techniques for minimizing coprocessor “starvation,” and for effectively scheduling processing in a coprocessor for greater efficiency and power. A run list is provided allowing a coprocessor to switch from one task to the next, without waiting for CPU intervention. A method called “surface faulting” allows a coprocessor to fault at the beginning of a large task rather than somewhere in the middle of the task. DMA control instructions, namely a “fence,” a “trap” and a “enable / disable context switching,” can be inserted into a processing stream to cause a coprocessor to perform tasks that enhance coprocessor efficiency and power. These instructions can also be used to build high-level synchronization objects. Finally, a “flip” technique is described that can switch a base reference for a display from one location to another, thereby changing the entire display surface.

Managing cache data and metadata

Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for managing cache metadata providing a mapping between addresses on a storage medium (e.g., disk storage) and corresponding addresses on a cache device at data items are stored. In some embodiments, cache metadata may be stored in a hierarchical data structure comprising a plurality of hierarchy levels. Only a subset of the plurality of hierarchy levels may be loaded to memory, thereby reducing the memory “footprint” of cache metadata and expediting the process of restoring the cache metadata during startup operations. Startup may be further expedited by using cache metadata to perform operations associated with reboot. Thereafter, as requests to read data items on the storage medium are processed using cache metadata to identify addresses at which the data items are stored in cache, the identified addresses may be stored in memory. When the computer is later shut down, instead of having to transfer the entirety of the cache metadata from memory to storage, only the subset of the plurality of hierarchy levels and / or the identified addresses previously loaded to memory may be transferred (e.g., to the cache device), thereby expediting the shutdown of the computer.

Taxonomy system for enterprise data management and analysis

The present invention provides taxonomy system for enterprise data management and analysis. Building a taxonomy is based on defining taxonomy themes to solve different aspects of enterprise data management. For each theme, a taxonomy is created by classifying data related to the theme. Taxonomy nodes include enterprise data management policies and data analysis methods to be applied to data stored at the nodes. The amount of data that companies need to access and manage today is complex and voluminous. Because of computational requirements and time constraints, it is very difficult to classify and process all data. In many cases, current solutions ignore a sizable amount of data and process a small subset of it. This leads to incomplete and inaccurate results as ignored data may contain valuable information. The present invention provides taxonomies that encompass all data. Voluminous data is processed first to eliminate irrelevant data that is not related to the theme of a taxonomy. This in effect reduces the amount of data used to create the taxonomy without impacting its accuracy.

Efficient multichannel filtering for CDMA modems

An efficient, multichannel filter for CDMA modems permits multiple serial, digital bit streams to be filtered by digital signal processing techniques including sample weighting and summing functions. Each individual channel may have custom weighting coefficients or weighting coefficients common for all channels. If the weighting coefficients are by adaption, the same approach may be taken. The multichannel FIR filter is implemented with no multipliers and a reduction in the number of adders. To increase the speed of operation, the filter structure utilizes look-up tables storing the weighting coefficients. The invention can be embodied as either as a field programmable gate array or an application specific integrated circuit. The use of look-up tables saves significant chip resources.

Compensating for geometric distortion of images in constrained processing environments

An image processing method determines a geometric transform of a suspect image by efficiently evaluating a large number of geometric transform candidates in environments with limited processing resources. Processing resources are conserved by using complementary methods for determining a geometric transform of an embedded signal. One method excels at higher geometric distortion, and specifically, distortion caused by greater tilt angle of a camera. Another method excels at lower geometric distortion, for weaker signals. Together, the methods provide a more reliable detector of an embedded data signal in image across a larger range of distortion while making efficient use of limited processing resources in mobile devices.
