Use of eco-friendly microemulsions in oil cleaning applications

An environmentally-friendly cleaning composition for oil cleaning comprising (a) a blend of dibasic esters, (b) one or more surfactants (c) and, optionally, (d) water or a solvent. The dibasic esters are be derived from a blend of adipic, glutaric, and succinic diacids, and, in one particular embodiment, the blend comprises dialkyl adipate, dialkyl methylglutarate and dialkyl ethylsuccinate, wherein the alkyl groups individually comprise a C1-C12 hydrocarbon group. The one or more surfactants are typically chosen from alcohol alkoxylate, an alkyl phenol ethoxylate, a terpene, a terpene alkoxylate or any derivates thereof. Optionally, additional components or additives including delaminates such as pinene and d-limonene, fragrances, whiteners, stabilizers, thickeners and the like can be added to the composition.

This invention utilizes two solvents, DMSO and d-limonene, to aid in the processing of cured rubber or hydrocarbon elastomers into crumb, without altering the physical properties of the elastomer. After the rubber has been sufficiently softened it is ground and the elastomers are washed and separated from any other components.

Plant source green and environment-friendly solvent and preparation thereof

The invention is suitable for the technical field of pesticide solvents, provides a plant source green and environment-friendly solvent and simultaneously provides a method for preparing the plant source green and environment-friendly solvent from destructive distillation turpentine. The plant source green and environment-friendly solvent comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 10 to 40 percent of pinene, 10 to 40 percent of D-limonene, 5 to 15 percent of longifolene, 5 to 15 percent of camphene, 3 to 15 percent of dehydroabietic acid, 1 to 10 percent of pinane and 0 to 2 percent of antioxygen. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) pulverizing and dehydrating the turpentine; (2) performing dry distillation and collecting lysate; (3) washing the turpentine by alkali liquor, standing the washed turpentine for fractional distillation; (4) performing dehydration; and (5) adding the antioxygen for uniform dissolution to prepare the plant source green and environment-friendly solvent. A raw material adopted by the solvent is the turpentine of pine trees, and is low in cost; the preparation method has simple process, environmental protection and lessenergy consumption; decomposition components give priority to safe and environment-friendly components, such as a terpene compound and the like and can be controlled; and the plant source green and environment-friendly solvent has low production cost, safety and environmental protection, and is beneficial for people.

Adhesive composition primarily intended for use in medical applications

The present invention provides an adhesive composition for use in bonding a polymeric fitting to an olefin-containing component of an article used in medical applications. The adhesive composition according to the invention includes an adhesive polymer system dissolved in a solvent system. The solvent system includes an organic solvent having a solubility parameter within the range of from about 7.5 to about 10 (cal / cm<3>)<1 / 2>. Subsequent to forming a bond between the polymeric fitting and the olefin-containing component, the adhesive composition can meet the requirements for USP Class VI materials. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the adhesive composition includes a low shear mixture of an adhesive polymer system including an atactic polypropylene and a low density polyethylene that is dissolved in a solvent system including a blend of d-limonene and a ketone selected from the group consisting of 4-heptanone and cyclohexanone. The adhesive composition can be used, for example, to bond polymeric fittings made of materials such as, but not limited to, acrylic, polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride, polyolefin, acrylonitrile butadiene-styrene, and polyester, to olefin-containing components of articles used in medical applications such as, but not limited to, tubing.

Citrus-derived cosmetic and medicinal composition, and nutritional food ingredient and associated methods of application

A method to encompass a citrus-based cream or gel composition that is highly stable and all-natural from components in situ by removing undesired components from citrus, producing such cream or gel with desired components and texture according to intended use, either as a cosmetic or medicinal lotion, a cream base, or as a food ingredient with nutraceutical and / or binding properties for use in as example analogue meats. The method comprises the steps of grinding whole citrus fruit or peel adjusted via rate of heating and pH to optimize gel consistency and desired residual bioflavonoids rather than maximizing pectin production. Citrus-derived components such as, but not limited to, d-limonene, naringin, and psoralen are added to and blended with the gel for applications which require concentrations higher than found in vivo.
