The invention combines the features of a supercharger, a turbocharger and turbo-compounding into one system, utilizing a hydraulic or mechanical continuously variable transmission to drive the turbocharger up to a specific speed or intake manifold pressure and then holding the ideal speed to keep it at the right boost pressure for the engine condition. The benefits of a supercharger, which is primarily good for high torque at low speed, and a turbocharger, which is usually only good for high horsepower at high speeds are merged. Once the exhaust energy begins to provide more work than it takes to drive the intake compressor, the invention recovers that excess energy and uses it to add torque to the crankshaft. As a result, the invention provides the benefits of low speed with high torque and the added value of high speed with higher horsepower or better fuel economy all from one system.

A damping bar made of a conductor material is arranged on the rotor core and can be used for cutting a magnetic field generated by a stator winding and forming induced current; a lorentz force generated by the induced current can form damping, so that the rotating speed and the torque of the rotor after starting are rapidly converged and the rotor stably operates; heat generated by the stator assembly, the adjustable magnetic ring assembly and the rotor assembly can be taken away by air current of the transmission mechanism.

In order to enable high speed, high bandwidth data transfer between two ASIC devices, for example in a backplane, a wide parallel input data word is divided into a smaller number of words, and each smaller word is converted to serial form and then transmitted over a respective sub-link at a high clock rate relative to the system clock. At the receiving side, the clock is recovered from the serial words, and the serial words are converted back to parallel form. An alignment process is then carried out, firstly involving detecting the positions of the bits of the words and then storing the words in a buffer FIFO register. The words are clocked out of the FIFO register in synchronism under control of the system clock once it is detected that valid words are received in the FIFO registers.
