3346 results about "Changeover" patented technology

In manufacturing, changeover is the process of converting a line or machine from running one product to another. Changeover times can last from a few minutes to as much as several weeks in the case of automobile manufacturers retooling for new models. The terms set-up and changeover are sometimes used interchangeably however this usage is incorrect. Set-up is only one component of changeover. Example: A soft drink bottler may run 16oz glass bottles one day, perform a changeover on the line and then run 20oz plastic bottles the next day.

Integrated polymer and metal case ammunition manufacturing system and method

A fully automated, integrated, end-to-end synchronized and compact manufacturing system produces polymer or metal case ammunition. Manufacturing stations support case assembly, sealing (gluing / welding), final product inspection, cartridge packaging or binning, and loading. Station modularity facilitates rapid changeover to accommodate ammunition of differing calibers. Sensors and apparatus may be provided to place a manufacturing cell in a wait state until all components or materials are received in a preferred orientation for proper assembly. The system may join and use multipart cases, each including a lower portion with a head end attached thereto and at least one upper portion having a necked-down transition to the open top end. Elevator feeders, vibratory bowl feeders, and robotic pick-and-place feeders may be used to deliver components for assembly.

System and method for virtual server migration across networks using DNS and route triangulation

A first virtual server is moved from a first network location to a second network location without interrupting service to users of the first virtual server. The state and data of the first virtual server are copied and transmitted to the second network location to create a copy of the first virtual server. The first virtual server copy is then updated to duplicate the first virtual server and all connections or packets directed to the first virtual server are intercepted and directed to the first virtual server copy at the second network location. A DNS entry for the symbolic name of the first virtual server is updated to reflect a shortened TTL value and then the address field of the DNS entry is set to the address of the first virtual server copy after the changeover and subsequent connections are directed to the first virtual server copy.

Fuel cell system capable of reducing electric power loss

A fuel cell system minimizes the power loss that may occur in a conduction passage during supply of electric power from a fuel cell to a load. A bypass connects between the input of a DC / DC converter and the output thereof, and therefore supplies power generated by the fuel cell to an inverter, bypassing the DC / DC converter. A changeover switch selectively changes the connection of the output of the fuel cell between the connection to the input of the DC / DC converter and the connection to the bypass. When the fuel cell is connected to the DC / DC converter, the power from the fuel cell is supplied to the inverter or a battery via the DC / DC converter. When the fuel cell is connected to the bypass, the power from the fuel cell is supplied to the inverter, bypassing the DC / DC converter. A cutoff switch disconnects the output of the battery from a connecting line. That is, the cutoff switch disconnects the battery from the inverter, the bypass and the like when turned off. When turned on, the cutoff switch 41 connects the battery to those components.

Management of electric vehicle charging station queues

There is disclosed method of management of electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) queues and an EVCS queue management system. The method includes limiting access to the EVCS to an individual at the top of an EVCS queue during a changeover time. The changeover time may be predetermined or may be generated based upon data pertaining to the management of the queue and / or to the vehicle of the user at the top of the queue. If the user at the top of the queue fails to activate the EVCS during the changeover time, the next in line in the queue will be given a changeover time in which to reach the EVCS. If the queue is otherwise empty, the user at the top of the queue will be notified that the EVCS is no longer reserved, and that anyone may use the EVCS.

System for switching data using dynamic scheduling

An architecture and related systems for improving the performance of non-blocking data switching systems. In one embodiment, a switching system includes an optical switching core coupled to a plurality of edge units, each of which has a set of ingress ports and a set of egress ports. The switching system also contains a scheduler that maintains two non-blocking data transfer schedules, only one of which is active at a time. Data is transferred through the switching system according to the active schedule. The scheduler monitors the sufficiency of data transferred according to the active schedule and, if the currently active schedule is insufficient, the scheduler recomputes the alternate schedule based on demand data received from the edges / ports and activates the alternate schedule. A timing mechanism is employed to ensure that the changeover to the alternate schedule is essentially simultaneous among the components of the system.

Path fault recovery method, switching-back method after recovery from fault, and node using the same

This invention provides another optical path fault recovery method by which when the resources of a standby path are used by extra traffic, the standby path can be set quickly and an active path can be switched to the standby path without any improper connection in the event of a fault on the active path. An end point node of a path having received fault notification issues a resource securing request message transferred hop by hop to a start point node along the standby path. In the case where resources of the standby path are secured, when the resources are used by the extra traffic, the nodes on the standby path and the start point node that have received the message release the extra traffic and then secure the resources. When the resource securing request message reaches the start point node, the start point node issues a switch changeover request message, and the end point node, the start point node, and the nodes on the standby path set switches according to the secured resources.
