Photovoltaic system and method for operating a photovoltaic system

A photovoltaic system includes a plurality of photovoltaic modules and a DC motor connected to a three-phase generator driven by a shaft. The three-phase generator is connected to a power mains. The electric power supplied to the DC motor by the plurality of photovoltaic modules is repeatedly measured and adjusted, by changing an external excitation current of the DC motor, to the peak power attainable at the current ambient temperature and the current incident solar radiation intensity. The peak power is preferably determined by incrementally changing the excitation current in predetermined time intervals, until the supplied electric power produces a power level which can be regarded as the peak power.

In some applications of the invention, the dancer control system is used to attenuate tension disturbances. In other applications of the invention, the dancer control system is used to create tension disturbances.

A motor drive system for a sensorless motor includes a catch start sequencer that controls the motor drive system to robustly start the motor in the event the motor rotor is rotating in forward or reverse direction prior to activating the motor drive system. In particular, the catch start sequencer causes the motor drive system to initially find and track the rotor position, and then determines the speed and possibly the direction of rotation of the rotor. If the rotor is rotating in the reverse direction, the catch start sequencer controls the motor drive system to slow the speed of rotation and to then start the rotor rotating in the forward direction.

Hybrid vehicle

A hybrid vehicle is capable of performing regenerative operations of generator-motors disposed adjacently to front wheels and / or rear wheels of the vehicle so as to achieve efficient conversion of kinetic energy of the vehicle into electric energy as much as possible when the vehicle slows down, thereby permitting higher use efficiency of energy. When the vehicle decelerates, a target deceleration force or a target deceleration torque of the vehicle is set, and a permissible maximum value of the braking torque to be imparted to rear wheels from a second generator-motor is set, and the permissible maximum value and the target deceleration torque of the vehicle, whichever is smaller, is set as a target braking torque to be imparted from the second generator-motor to the rear wheels. Furthermore, with the remaining torque of the target deceleration torque being set as an upper limit, a target braking torque to be imparted to front wheels from a first generator-motor is determined, and a friction type braking mechanism compensates a shortfall torque of a total sum of the target braking torques of the two generator-motors to reach the target deceleration torque.

Process and device for heating windscreen washer liquid

PCT No. PCT / EP97 / 02902 Sec. 371 Date Apr. 12, 1999 Sec. 102(e) Date Apr. 12, 1999 PCT Filed Jun. 4, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO97 / 46431 PCT Pub. Date Dec. 11, 1997Only a small useful quantity of washing water as close as possible to the spray nozzles of the windshield wiper system is heated. As a result of corresponding miniaturization, the heating time can be reduced to 5 to 10 seconds. A sufficient cleaning effect can be achieved in most cases by hot water after the windshield spray system is actuated two or three times. Additional cleaning can be carried out either by rinsing with colder or cold water or by repeating after 10 to 20 seconds. The water is heated via an instant heating element which, with a content of, for example, 10 to 50 cm3, can be installed even in a secondary chamber. Some of the heat energy is therefore stored in a larger thermal reserve tank of, for example, 1 dl.

Charge control apparatus, electrically powered vehicle and electric storage charge control method

When it is determined that an electric storage is to be charged from a commercial power source, a controller sets a control target of a voltage of a power line to be controlled by a boost converter, based on a voltage of the commercial power source. Specifically, the controller sets the control target of the voltage to a level approximately equal to the crest value of voltage. Then, the controller outputs an input permission command to a relay circuit, and controls inverters to execute charging of the electric storage.

Methods for operating a motor vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine and by two electrical machines

Two methods for operating a motor vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine (VM) and by two electrical machines (E1, E2) are proposed. The motor vehicle has a transmission (G) with two power paths (LP1, LP2) controllable independently of one another. Each power path (LP1, LP2) is coupled via a respective epicyclic gear (P1, P2) to one of the electrical machines (LP1, LP2) and to the input shaft (KW) of the transmission (G) and can be coupled via shiftable gears (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, R) to the output shaft (AW) of the transmission (G). The object is to make it possible to operate the motor vehicle more efficiently. To reduce circulating mechanical power flow between the two power paths (LP1, LP2), particularly in the boost mode or upon recuperation of braking energy, the gear combination (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, R) is varied, or the engine rpm is lowered, or only one electrical machine (E1, E2) is used as a generator. More-comfortable operation is additionally achieved in that upon electrical starting, the engine (VM) is started simultaneously.

Real-time quadratic programming for control of dynamical systems

Real-time control of a dynamical system is provided by determining control variables that get as close as possible to producing a desired response. Additional consideration of physical limitations leads to a convex Quadratic Program with inequality constraints that needs to be solved in real-time. A new active set algorithm is described to solve the convex Quadratic Program efficiently that meets real-time requirements. Based on the key observation that the physical limitations of the system translate to optimal active sets that remain relatively unchanged over time (even though the actual optimal controls may be varying), starting guesses for the active set obtained from the final iterate in the previous time period greatly reduces the number of iterations and hence allows the Quadratic Programs to be solved to convergence in real-time.
