Switchable resistive perovskite microelectronic device with multi-layer thin film structure

ActiveUS20050151156A1Lowered pulse voltageProtection of device being damagedThyristorSemiconductor/solid-state device manufacturingElectrical resistance and conductanceMagnification
A switchable resistive device has a multi-layer thin film structure interposed between an upper conductive electrode and a lower conductive electrode. The multi-layer thin film structure comprises a perovskite layer with one buffer layer on one side of the perovskite layer, or a perovskite layer with buffer layers on both sides of the perovskite layer. Reversible resistance changes are induced in the device under applied electrical pulses. The resistance changes of the device are retained after applied electric pulses. The functions of the buffer layer(s) added to the device include magnification of the resistance switching region, reduction of the pulse voltage needed to switch the device, protection of the device from being damaged by a large pulse shock, improvement of the temperature and radiation properties, and increased stability of the device allowing for multivalued memory applications.

Sanding disks

Accessories for an angle grinder include a disposable rotary sanding disk having quite large shaped ventilating / viewing apertures, for use with a resilient backing plate also having shaped ventilating apertures. The apertures of one or both parts are shaped so that snagging of the apertures on projections from the work surface is minimized and to facilitate air flow across the work surface during use. This air flow helps in cooling the work and ejecting detritus, so minimising clogging effects. The ventilating apertures also facilitate viewing the work to be sanded through the spinning disk during the abrasion process, so that operator feedback is immediate. The holes also give the sanding disk more resilience so that a greater area comes in contact with the work and the disk wears more evenly over its abrasive surface.

Radio controlled helicopter

A radio controlled helicopter is provided which eliminates or simplifies forward / reverse flight control for safe and easy indoor operation. Embodiments include a helicopter having a pair of counter rotating rotors which are driven at the same speed, a vertically aligned tail rotor driven by a reversible motor for controlling yaw, and a mass, such as a power supply battery, mounted for changing the center of gravity of the helicopter to adjust the tendency of the helicopter to move in a forward or reverse direction. The mass is either rigidly mounted, so that the helicopter is always moving forward during flight, or adjustably mounted so that the helicopter's forward or reverse direction can be adjusted prior to or during flight. A protective cage is provided to protect persons from injury from the rotors and to prevent damage to the rotors due to contact with objects during flight.

An optical coherence tomography probe and laser combination device configured for real-time z-directional guidance of the incisional depth of a surgical procedure. It can be used alone or placed within the working channel of an endoscope. The device includes an OCT single mode fiber, and a laser fiber or laser hollow waveguide or electrical surgical wire positioned adjacent to the OCT single mode fiber. The single mode fiber is configured to move laterally when activated by an actuator to scan light data reflected from a sample that is positioned in front of a distal end of the device. The light data can be processed to generate a B-scan image. The device can collect data in real-time during lasing, or immediately prior to and following the cutting. The surgical tool, when coupled to a processor, can deactivate when the B-scan image identifies that the incision is within a predefined tolerance.

Safety Needle

This invention relates to a safety needle to prevent needle stick injuries. The invention provides a safety needle accessory comprising a hollow needle having a base end and a sharp end, a hub surrounding the base end of the needle and having a connector for connection to an injection device, a sleeve surrounding the hub and slidable relative to the hub in an axial direction, an elastically deformable member, and a pack having a closed end covering the sharp end of the needle and an open end exposing the connector of the hub and which is releasably mounted over the needle, hub and sleeve. The sleeve is slidable in a first axial direction from a first position in which the needle is fully or partially covered by the sleeve to a second position in which the needle is exposed, via an intermediate position between the first and second positions in which the sharp end of the needle projects from the sleeve, and in a second axial direction from the second position to a third position in which the needle is fully covered by the sleeve. The deformable member is deformed by the sleeve sliding from the first to the second position and the force for sliding from the second to the third position is provided by the stored elastic energy in the deformable member. The closed end of the pack has a removable cap at a position on the pack such that removal of the cap exposes the sharp end of the needle but not the sleeve when the sleeve is in the intermediate position.
