The method comprises the following steps that 1, through a millimeter wave radar, and vehicle targets which have overtaking behaviors on driving vehicles of lanes on the two sides are obtained; 2, through a GPS tachymeter, the vehicle speeds of the driving vehicles are obtained, and vehicle targetsovertaken by the driving vehicles of the lanes of the two sides are obtained; 3, according to the vehicle targets which have the overtaking behaviors on the driving vehicles of the lanes on the two sides and are acquired in step 1 and the vehicle targets overtaken by the driving vehicles and acquired in step 2, the overtaking frequency is obtained; 4, a fuzzy judgement set based on the overtakingfrequency is established, threshold values of evaluation values of the driving vehicle states under different working conditions are set, a rule base rule is applied to inference with credibility, andthe safety performance of the vehicles is comprehensively evaluated. The method is high in real-time performance, reliability and practicability, has no interference, and can effectively evaluate thedriving states of the vehicles in real time.
