The completely autotrophic nitrogen removal over nitrite (CANON) process is started in a biological filter tank reactor and comprises the following steps: firstly, nitrifying sludge by using an inoculating part, and performing aerobic nitrification start with sufficient oxygen supply to build a nitrosobacteria-dominated and nitrobacterium-dominated microorganism system; inhibiting the growth of nitrobacterium through intermittent aeration / anaerobism and enriching anaerobic ammonium oxidation bacteria; and finally, performing continuous aeration, controlling ammonia nitrogen to be oxidized to a stage of nitrous acid through restrictive oxygen supply, and optimizing microenvironment where nitrosobacteria and anaerobic ammonium oxidation bacteria coexist so as to successfully start the CANON process.
