Phosphorylation of 5-lipoxygenase at ser523 and uses thereof

The present invention provides novel mechanisms that regulate the production of anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory mediators generated by 5-lipoxygenase. In this regard, the present invention establishes that phosphorylation of 5-Lipoxygenase by protein kinase A, has a crucial role in determining the end products of 5-Lipoxygenase. With translocation to the nucleus, potent proinflammatory leukotrienes are produced, whereas following phosphorylation by protein kinase A, anti-inflammatory mediators are produced. The present invention also discloses compounds that regulate these pro- and anti-inflammatory mediators.

Soybean blending edible oil and preparation process thereof

The invention discloses soybean blending edible oil and a preparation process thereof. The soybean blending edible oil is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 100 parts of soybean oil, 20-30 parts of olive oil, 15-25 parts of grape seed oil, 10-20 parts of rosehip oil, 10-15 parts sea buckthorn oil, 6-10 parts of perilla seed oil, 1-7 parts of corn germ oil, and 0.1-0.2 part of a vegetable oil modifying agent; the vegetable oil modifying agent is prepared from the following ingredients in parts by weight: 2-3 parts of glucose oxidase, 3-4 parts of o-phosphoethanolamine, 0.8-1.2 parts of alpha-tocopherol, 0.6-1 part of a rosemary extract, 1-2 parts of lycopene, 0 .3-0.5 part of catechin and 0.4-0.6 part of phytic acid. The preparation process comprises the followingsteps of preparing the vegetable oil modifying agent, preparing compound vegetable oil and preparing the soybean blending edible oil. According to the soybean blending edible oil, the vegetable oil modifying agent is utilized to passivate lipoxygenase activity, prevent the browning reaction of soybean blending oil, reduce the content of dissolved oxygen and improve the oxidation resistance and thermal stability of blending oil so as to enable the blending oil to maintain good flavor and quality.

Special fertilizer for enhancing original aroma of apples, and application

The invention belongs to the field of crop fertilizers, and particularly relates to a special fertilizer for enhancing the original aroma of apples. The special fertilizer contains ammonium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, potassium sulfate, calcium humate, magnesium sulfate, sodium borate, fulvic acid iron, an amino acid and an aroma enhancing activating agent. The special fertilizer is characterized in that the nutrient contents of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are reasonably compounded according to the nutrition uptake characteristics of the apples during growth, medium trace elements: calcium, magnesium, boron and iron, which are needed during the young fruit period and the fruit swelling period of the apples are added in the special fertilizer, so that the growth and the development of the apples are promoted, and the yield of the apples is increased; besides, the amino acid and the aroma enhancing activating agent are added in the fertilizer, the amino acid is a substrate which is synthesized from the volatile aromatic esters of the apples, the aroma enhancing activating agent can promote the activity of transaminase and lipoxygenase in the apples and increase the contents of the aromatic esters and alcohols, so that the original aroma of the apples is stronger. When the special fertilizer is applied in the young fruit period and the fruit swelling period of the apples, not only the yield of the apples can be increased, but also the original aroma of the apples can be enhanced. The special fertilizer has a relatively high market application value.

Flavonoid composition for treating oral diseases

The present invention provides a novel composition of matter comprised of a mixture of two specific classes of compounds --Free-B-Ring flavonoids and flavans-- for use in the prevention and treatment of diseases and conditions associated with mouth, gums and teeth. This composition of matter simultaneously inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) enzymatic activity and reduces cytokine production at the mRNA level in normal, aged and damaged periodontal cells and tissues. This invention further provides a method for the prevention and treatment of diseases and conditions of the mouth, gums and teeth. The method for preventing and treating diseases and conditions of the mouth, teeth and gums is comprised of administering to a host in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a mixture of Free-B-Ring flavonoids and flavans synthesized and/or isolated from a single plant or multiple plants, preferably in the Scutellaria, Oroxylum, Acacia or Uncaria genus of plants and pharmaceutically and/or cosmetically acceptable carriers. Finally the present invention provides a method for the prevention and treatment of diseases and conditions of the mouth, teeth or gums, including but not limited to periodontal diseases, such as gingivitis, periodontitis, pulpitis, periodontal conditions caused by the physical implantation of oral dentures, trauma, injuries, bruxism, neoplastic and other degenerative processes; material alba, pellicles, dental plagues, calculus, and stains. Use of the composition described herein also affords the benefit of maintaining optimum saliva production and pH, minimizing bacterial growth, reducing the formation of pellicles and plague, inhibiting tooth decalcification and tooth caries (decay), promoting remineralization, which yields healthy gums, whitening teeth, maintaining healthy oral hygiene and reducing oral malodour (halitosis).
