The invention discloses a method for preparing activated carbon from biomass waste. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (a) grafting 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid onto the surface of biomass waste (b) a step of carbonizing the biomass waste treated in step (a) to obtain activated carbon. Compared with the existing technology, the biomass activated carbon prepared by this method not only has a good adsorption capacity for p-nitrophenol, which can reach more than 480 mg / g, but also can almost completely remove lead ions, chromium ions, nickel ions in water at the same time ions and arsenic ions, good cycle stability, more than 5 cycles, the adsorption capacity is still above 98%, it is a multi-functional comprehensive wastewater adsorbent.
