A portable multispectral data acquisition system for use on a vehicle such as an aircraft comprises a plurality of gyroscope-stabilized remote sensing devices synchronized to simultaneously capture images of a common spatial area in both visible and invisible bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, a computer and digital recorder to record and correlate the captured images with temporospatial reference information, image processing software to stack or layer the images and to extract and compare the images in order to identify and filter hidden or subsurface anomalies that are invisible to the naked eye, and additional image processing software to orthorectify the images to a three-dimensional digital terrain map and to stitch adjacent images together into a mosaic. Methods for using the portable multispectral data acquisition system are also provided.

A cable modem termination system is disclosed with flexible mapping of upstreams to downstreams and flexible mapping of downstreams to optical nodes and optical nodes to upstream receivers and the ability to add singe upstreams or downstreams as needed for load balancing. The present invention relates to an error correction encoding method using a three-dimensional Reed-Solomon code. In the error correction encoding method, pieces of input information are arranged in a three-dimensional data block. Three-dimensional error correction encoding is performed with respect to the three-dimensional data block, thereby adding horizontal, vertical and z-axial error correction parity symbols to the three-dimensional data block in horizontal, vertical and z-axial directions, respectively.

A method for generating a parity check matrix of a block LDPC code is disclosed. The parity check matrix includes an information part corresponding to an information word and a first parity part and a second parity part each corresponding to a parity. The method includes determining a size of the parity check matrix based on a coding rate applied when coding the information word with the block LDPC code, and a codeword length; dividing a parity check matrix with the determined size into a predetermined number of blocks; classifying the blocks into blocks corresponding to the information part, blocks corresponding to the first parity part, and blocks corresponding to the second parity part; arranging permutation matrixes in predetermined blocks from among the blocks classified as the first parity part, and arranging identity matrixes in a full lower triangular form in predetermined blocks from among the blocks classified as the second parity part; and arranging the permutation matrixes in the blocks classified as the information part such that a minimum cycle length is maximized and weight values are irregular on a factor graph of the block LDPC code.

To decode, in a plurality of iterations, a representation, imported from a channel, of a codeword that encodes K information bits as N>K codeword bits, estimates of the codeword bits are updated by exchanging messages between N bit nodes and N−K check nodes of a graph. A method and apparatus for controlling AMC in an OFDM communication system in which an entire frequency band is divided into a plurality of sub-carrier bands. In the AMC controlling method, power and a number of transmission bits are calculated for each of the sub-carriers in a predetermined method for each of coding methods available in the OFDM communication system. A data rate for each of the coding methods is calculated based on the number of transmission bits and the power for each sub-carrier. A coding method having a highest of the calculated data rates is selected and a modulation method is determined according to a number of transmission bits in the determined coding method.

In a time-division multiplexing wireless communication system, an antenna module has plural antenna elements. Receiver high-frequency circuit synthesizes signals from the antenna elements according to an antenna directivity having a desired beam pattern. An apparatus and method for decoding a Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code having a maximum error correction capability and an error detection capability. In the apparatus, a decoder receives a signal, and decodes the received signal according to a second parity check matrix having parity check expressions obtained by selecting a predetermined number of dependent parity check expressions among dependent parity check expressions generated by combining, with a predetermined scheme, parity check expressions representing rows of a first parity check matrix obtained by encoding information data into a block code having an optimum minimum distance considering a predetermined coding rate, and adding the selected dependent parity check expressions to the parity check expressions of the first parity check matrix. An error detector determines if there is an error in a signal output from the decoder.
