Method, system and computer program product for dynamic marketing strategy development

A method, system and computer program product for dynamically developing an optimal marketing strategy is disclosed. The method first optimizes the marketing strategy on the basis of customer responses and preferences. The history of customer response for the strategy, or for other similar strategies, is used in this step. Reinforcement learning in constrained domains is then used to further optimize the strategy. The constraints imposed in this step are attributed to multiple marketing channels, which are used to deploy the strategies. The constraints include the cost and the effectiveness of the marketing channel and the customer preferences for the marketing channel. The optimized strategy is then deployed, and the customer response is recorded. The method is executed repeatedly for a specified duration.

Automated-feed surgical clip applier and related methods

ActiveUS7052504B2Keeps the clips stabilizedShorter sectionWound clampsSurgical ClipsEngineering
A surgical clip applying apparatus comprises an actuator device, a pair of opposing jaws, and an elongate assembly interposed therebetween. A clip driving device disposed in the elongate assembly is actuated by the actuator device to sequentially drive clips through the elongate assembly into engagement with the jaws. A clip control element is disposed in the elongate assembly at a distal end thereof. The clip control element comprises first, second, and third clip control surfaces. The first clip control surface contacts a first end of a clip to cause the clip to rotate about the first end. The second and third clip control surfaces receive a second end of the clip therebetween prior to the clip being driven into engagement with the jaws. A chicane is provided near the distal end of the elongate assembly to provide a diverting path for clips so that as one clip is being rotated, the next clip can be further advanced without contacting the rotating clip.

Content-aware application switch and methods thereof

A content-aware application switch and methods thereof intelligently switch client packets to one server among a group of servers in a server farm. The switch uses Layer 7 or application content parsed from a packet to help select the server and to schedule the transmitting of the packet to the server. This enables refined load-balancing and Quality-of-Service control tailored to the application being switched. In another aspect of the invention, a slow-start server selection method assigned an initially boosted server load metric to a server newly added to the group of servers under load balancing. This alleviates the problem of the new server being swamped initially due to a very low load metric compared to that of others. In yet another aspect of the invention, a switching method dependent on Layer 7 content avoids delayed binding in a new TCP session. Layer 7 content is not available during the initial handshaking phase of a new TCP session. The method uses the Layer 7 content from a previous session as an estimate to help select the server and uses a default priority to scheduling the transmitting of the handshaking packets. Updated Layer 7 content available after the handshaking phase is then used to reset the priority for the transmit schedule and becomes available for use in load balancing of the next TCP session.

Methods for Single Signon (SSO) Using Decentralized Password and Credential Management

A method for single sign-on (SSO) that provides decentralized credential management using end-to-end security. Credential (and other personal user information) management is decentralized in that encryption is performed locally on the user's computer. The user's encrypted credentials may be stored by the login server and / or a plurality of distributed servers / databases (such as a cloud). The login server never has access to the user's credentials or other personal information. When the user wants to use single sign-on, he enters his password into his browser and the browser submits the encrypted / hashed password to the login server for validation. Upon validation, the browser receives the user's encrypted credentials. The credentials are decrypted by the browser and provided to relevant websites to automatically log the user in.
