Feedback interval control

A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication systems that includes a plurality of adjacent cells, each containing one or more base stations operable to transmit signals to, and receive signals transmitted from, one or more users. The users are operable to feed back to the relevant base station(s) channel state information relating to channel(s) between the relevant base station(s) and the users, and the base stations are operable to adapt signals for transmission to users, based on the fed back channel state information, to account for channel variations. The proposed method involves obtaining information related to time-variation in channel spatial structure, and adjusting the timing with which a user feeds back channel state information, based on the time variation in channel spatial structure. The invention helps to achieve a suitable balance between the feedback overhead and system performance, and may be operable in systems operating according to various CoMP transmission modes.

Audio input system used in home environment based on microphone array

The invention provides an audio input system used in home environment based on a beam-forming microphone array. The audio input system receives an audio input from a user by using the microphone array which is arranged at the circumference of a television in a living room or embedded in the television. The audio input system specifically comprises the microphone array, a beam-forming module, a target sound detection module, an echo eliminating module and a back filtering module, wherein the microphone array comprises a plurality of microphone array elements used for extracting multichannel audio signals in the home living room environment; the beam-forming module is used for directionally enhancing the sound along a target direction as well as simultaneously resisting sound sources from other directions; the target sound detection module is used for judging the starting and ending end points of a target sound section; the echo eliminating module is used for removing a sound signal of a television loudspeaker; and the back filtering module is used for eliminating the irrelevant diffused background noises. The invention also provides an audio input system based on a blind-separation microphone array. The two systems are both used for inputting the audio signals in the home network environment based on the microphone array.

Unitized electrode with three-dimensional multi-site, multi-modal capabilities for detection and control of brain state changes

An electrode with three-dimensional capabilities for detection and control of brain state changes of a subject. The electrode includes a disk portion having an upper surface and a lower surface, and a shaft portion secured to and extending perpendicularly outwardly from the lower surface of the disk portion; the shaft portion having an outer surface. The disk portion and shaft portion may include one or more recording or stimulating contact surfaces structured to operatively interact with the brain of a subject. Insulating material isolates each of the recording or stimulating contact surfaces from each other. At least one conductor operatively and separately connect each of the recording or stimulating contact surfaces in communication with external apparatus. The disk portion and shaft portion are structured relative to each other to operatively provide support and anchoring for each other while providing three-dimensional capabilities for detection and control of brain state changes of a subject. Modified embodiments include insertible / retractable electrode wires, both contained in channels and sheathed in axially displaceable cannulae; activating mechanisms for inserting / retracting the electrode wires and / or cannulae; and multiple shaft portions.
