The invention relates to a direct
volume rendering method for abstracting features of medical volume data, which comprises the following steps of 1, leading in medical volume data; 2, sampling the volume data along the direction of a light
ray by utilizing a
ray casting algorithm; 3, abstracting extracted feature regions into sampling points and then according to the number of the abstracted sampling points on the light
ray, calculating nontransparency of the abstracted sampling points; 4, respectively analyzing a
scalar value and gradient information of the sampling point in each feature region, searching the sampling points with the maximum
scalar value, using physical positions of the sampling points with the maximum
scalar value as physical positions of the abstracted sampling points, using the maximum scalar value as a scalar value of the abstracted sampling points, simultaneously searching the gradient information with the maximum
gradient magnitude in the features as a normal vector of the abstracted sampling points and finally, setting colors for the abstracted sampling points and executing
local illumination calculation; and 5, fusing the abstracted sampling points to form a final medical image.
