1804 results about "Display driver" patented technology

In Electronics/computer hardware a display driver is usually a semiconductor integrated circuit (but may alternatively comprise a state machine made of discrete logic and other components) which provides an interface function between a microprocessor, microcontroller, ASIC or general-purpose peripheral interface and a particular type of display device, e.g. LCD, LED, OLED, ePaper, CRT, Vacuum fluorescent or Nixie.

Method and apparatus for managing and uniformly maintaining pixel circuitry in a flat panel display

The present invention describes a method and apparatus for measuring the voltage and current characteristics of the OLED pixel as it ages and correlating the measured data to the decrease in quantum efficiency and changes in OLED impedance over the life of the OLED, so that corrections can be made to the image drive system to prevent image sticking and color point drift. The method and apparatus of the present invention do not require any additional circuitry or changes in the display design. The circuitry of the present invention is implemented in the display driver integrated circuit (IC) chips. The basis of the invention is the luminance-current-voltage (LIV) curves which characterize the OLED materials over their life time. A series of these curves are stored in memory representing a OLED material at various ages. The apparatus of the present invention is used to measure driver voltages and currents for a pixel having an OLED, which measurements are then used to extract the voltage current curve for the OLED at any point in time. The extracted curve is compared to the aging curves stored in memory to determine the aging curve that best describes the measured present voltage current characteristic of the pixel. That aging curve is used to drive the pixel.

Display line drivers and method for signal propagation delay compensation

Methods and apparatus for compensating the effects of display signal propagation delay in a display panel are disclosed. The apparatus comprises circuitry in addition to conventional display driver circuitry for delaying display line timing signals by an amount approximating the delay found in corresponding display lines. By delaying display line timing signals, for example in a column driver, by an time approximately equal the delay experienced in a corresponding row enable signal line, capacitors associated with the display pixels charge more fully resulting in a more vivid display image. Methods for compensating the effects of display signal propagation delay involve generating a plurality of delayed display timing signals and activating display lines in response to those delayed timing signals.

System and Method for Assisting a User to Create Musical Compositions

A system for assisting an end user to develop a musical composition comprising a data storage medium, a plurality of musical assets stored in the data storage medium, a user interface, and an audio converter module. Each of the plurality of musical assets are associated with a functional attribute and a visual attribute, where the visual attribute provides a visual suggestion to an end user regarding the functional attribute of the musical asset. The user interface is coupled to an audio interface, a display driver and a user input handler; and is capable of rendering a graphical display that enables the end user to select between one or more visual attributes. The audio converter module captures audio recorded by the end-user through the audio interface, processes the audio; and produces a multi-track musical compilation comprised of a plurality of audio tracks mixed together in a manner where the multiple tracks are substantially musically harmonious with one another. When the end-user selects one or more visual attributes via the user interface, the audio converter is also configured to identify the musical assets associated with the one or more selected visual attributes, and alter at least one portion of an audio track based on the functional attributes associated with the identified musical assets; wherein the audio track is one the plurality of audio tracks.

Display devices and integrated circuits

Integrated circuits, assemblies with integrated circuits, display devices and electrical circuits. There are various different aspects and embodiments of these apparatuses described herein. According to one aspect, a display device includes a plurality of display drivers which includes a serial shift register, wherein the display drivers are located in the display area of the display device which is viewable. According to another aspect, an integrated circuit, which has a plurality of functionally symmetric interface pads, includes an instruction decoder which decodes instructions received through at least one of the pads. In another aspect, an integrated circuit (IC) includes a position detector which detects a position of the IC relative to a receptor substrate and provides a signal which is determined by the position; this IC may be used in an assembly which includes the receptor substrate. In another aspect, an IC includes a position detector which detects a position of the IC relative to a receptor substrate and also includes a configurable pad which is configurable, depending upon the position as one of at least two of the following: an input pad, an output pad, or a no-operation pad. According to another aspect, a layout of an IC has a plurality of functionally symmetric interface pads wherein two such pads are configurable pads. According to another aspect, an assembly includes a receptor substrate and an IC attached to the substrate, and the IC includes a first logic circuit which provides a first function, a second logic circuit which provides a second function, and a selector which selects between the two functions such that the IC performs only the selected function. Other aspects and methods are also described.

Electronic display system

The electronic display system displays advertisements, traffic and weather information on a display panel mounted to the license plate support of an automobile or any vehicle when the vehicle is moving beneath a predetermined threshold speed. The display can be mounted elsewhere, for example, anywhere on the rear or sides of a larger vehicle such as a van, bus or truck, where it will be readily seen. Once the vehicle exceeds the predetermined threshold speed, the display changes, showing vehicle license plate information, such as the license plate number, State of registration, etc. The electronic display system includes a programmable electronic display, driven by a display driver, and an electronic control module that allows information to be sent to and shown on the electronic display. The electronic control module is coupled to a speedometer, a tachometer, or a sensor that determines the rate at which the drive shaft rotates, which allows the control module to determine whether the threshold speed has been reached.
