Data Series. A data series is a group of related data points that are plotted in a chart. Each series has a unique color or pattern and is described in the legend. You can plot one or more data series in a chart; pie charts have only one data series.

System and methods for real-time detection, correction, and transformation of time series data

Systems and methods for time series data error detection, correction, and transformation may detect gaps and anomalies in time series data, such as from a meter device, and may correct the gaps and adjust the anomalies prior to long-term record storage. Data forecasting may be used to correct the errors in the time series data. The error corrected data may be regarded as an actual set of time series data and become a base data set against which additional heuristic projections are generated. In addition, the time series data may be transformed into any number of physical and virtual device hierarchies that represent the underlying data source configurations, and may then be stored in an analytical database for further analysis. The hierarchies may be irregular and may change over time.

Method and apparatus for reordering data items

A swapping utility enables directional commands from a graphic user interface and / or keyboard to be utilized to swap data items associated with lists, tables or other series of data items. Upon receipt of both a directional command, e.g. up, down, left, or right, and a swap command, the utility uses the current position of the cursor or a selected entity to identify a first data item to be swapped and the relative direction thereto to identify a second, adjacent data item to be swapped. If both identified data items are of the same data type, their respective contents are exchanged within the ordered list or table without the need to cut and paste the content. In alternative embodiments, multiple adjacent data items may be swapped, or, in an embodiment which utilizes multiple selection icons, single or multiple nonadjacent entities may be directly swapped.

The method further includes transmitting a data transfer error signal generated by the disk drive to the host processor, the data transfer error signal having a state that indicates whether any data transfer errors have occurred with respect to the first transfer of the non-time-critical, error-intolerant data segment. The method further includes selectively interposing a second data transfer command into the sequence of data transfer commands, the second data transfer command initiating a second transfer of the non-time-critical, error-intolerant data segment from a second storage location, thereby utilizing storage redundancy to achieve an accuracy required for the non-time-critical, error-intolerant data segment while maintaining the required data transfer rate of the sequence of time-critical, error-tolerant data segments.

Data transfer

Circuitry for transferring multiple digital data streams, e.g. digital audio data, over a single communications link such as a single wire. A pulse-length-modulator is responsive to a plurality of data streams to generate a series of data pulses with a single data pulse having a rising and falling edge in each of a plurality of transfer periods defined by a first clock signal. The timing of the rising and falling edge of each data pulse is dependent on a combination of the then current data samples from the plurality of data streams. An apparatus and method for improving the communication capabilities of computer systems is disclosed. The most preferred embodiments of the present invention use a series of data buffers and data registers to process an incoming high speed data signal. By using the buffers and registers, the incoming signal can be reformatted and manipulated at a much lower frequency than the original transmission frequency. The deserializer of the present invention also samples a greater portion of the incoming data signal than usual to further increase reliability. These various features of the invention provide for a more stable and reliable communication link and will also provide a less expensive solution for serialization / deserialization. The present invention includes a serializer that receives parallel data input from a computer and serializes the data for transmission over a high-speed serial communication link. On the receiving end, the present invention provides a deserializer that can quickly and efficiently transform the serial data back into parallel form for use within the computer system on the receiving end. By utilizing two related clock signals, one clock signal being an integer multiple of the other, a self-synchronizing serializer / deserializer can be created. In addition, by increasing the size of the data sample on the receiving end, the comparisons necessary to retrieve a parallel signal from a serial transmission can occur at a much lower frequency than the frequency of the serial transmission. In the most preferred embodiment, the invention is provided as a integrated solution manufactured on a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) card, thereby allowing the present invention to be easy installed into existing computer systems.

Techniques for transferring a serialized image of XML data

Techniques for transferring a serialized image of data for an XML construct includes selecting a first format from multiple different XML serialization formats that represent, in a database system, data for XML constructs as a series of data units, such as a series of bytes representing characters, or a series of bits, bytes or octets representing binary values. A message is generated that includes a payload and a payload type field. The payload includes particular serialized data that represents particular data for a particular XML construct in the first format. The type field includes data that indicates the first format. The message is sent from a sending component of the database system to a different receiving component of the database system. These techniques allow the format selection to be based on characteristics of the sending or receiving components to make better use of the resources available to the two components.
