A process which provides electronic access to pre-paid funds for cash or payment for goods and services. A card is issued to a customer with a value selectable by the customer. The card has a magnetic stripe with an encoded card number including a bank identification number (BIN) and an account number. The central card processor establishes a zero balance database including the card numbers, but with blank fields for the customer data and the value of the account. When a customer purchases a card, the sales agent transmits to the central database computer which fills in the blanks in the database, activating the account, and transmits an acknowledgement signal back to the sales agent. The customer can immediately use the card in ATM or other remote terminals to acquire cash or purchase goods and services. The customer inputs a PIN number which is provided with the card, or a customer selected alternative PIN number.

Methods and apparatus for large scale distribution of electronic access control clients. In one aspect, a tiered security software protocol is disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, a server electronic Universal Integrated Circuit Card (eUICC) and client eUICC software comprise a so-called “stack” of software layers. Each software layer is responsible for a set of hierarchical functions which are negotiated with its corresponding peer software layer. The tiered security software protocol is configured for large scale distribution of electronic Subscriber Identity Modules (eSIMs)

A resource management client apparatus (client, 102) comprises an interface to a wide area network (WAN, 106) facilitating connection to a resource management server (server, 104), and at least one communications interface (116, 118) to communicate with a plurality of associated resource monitoring and control devices (devices, 120, 122). A secure key interface (128) to receive an electronic access device (130) that securely stores information including at least a unique identifier, server connection data, and one or more encryption keys for encrypting information transmitted between the client (102) and the server (104). The client (102) establishes a connection to the server (104) via the WAN (106), using the server connection data stored in the electronic access device (130), receives status messages from the devices (120, 122), processes received status messages, and encrypts and transmits corresponding status information of the devices (120, 122) to the server (104) via the WAN (106). It receives and decrypts encrypted resource control information from the server (104) via the WAN (106). Furthermore, it processes received resource control information and transmits corresponding control messages to the devices (120, 122).

Apparatus and methods for distributing access control clients. In one exemplary embodiment, a network infrastructure is disclosed that enables delivery of electronic subscriber identity modules (eSIMs) to secure elements (e.g., electronic Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (eUICCs), etc.) The network architecture includes one or more of: (i) eSIM appliances, (ii) secure eSIM storages, (iii) eSIM managers, (iv) eUICC appliances, (v) eUICC managers, (vi) service provider consoles, (vii) account managers, (viii) Mobile Network Operator (MNO) systems, (ix) eUICCs that are local to one or more devices, and (x) depots. Moreover, each depot may include: (xi) eSIM inventory managers, (xii) system directory services, (xiii) communications managers, and/or (xiv) pending eSIM storages. Functions of the disclosed infrastructure can be flexibly partitioned and/or adapted such that individual parties can host portions of the infrastructure. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention can provide redundancy, thus ensuring maximal uptime for the overall network (or the portion thereof).

A method for storing, organizing and providing remote electronic access to documents. A cover sheet including a standard set of identification data characterizing each document is developed and stored. A digital version of each document is created and stored by scanning each contract. Each digital version includes a scanned image and a searchable text file, wherein the text is overlaid with the image. An index of bookmarks identifying sections of the digital version of each document is generated. Selected fields of information are captured from the digital version of the document. The documents are organized and cross-referenced in a database that includes the captured information and additional information related to each document. Designated parties are alerted of critical dates associated with each document. Remote electronic access to the documents is provided over the internet.

An electronic access control and recording system includes a lock, a card reader, a key card configured to communicate with the lock and with the card reader, a database, and an administrator microprocessor configured to provide a user interface and to communicate with the database and with the card reader. At least one of the lock and the card contain a microprocessor and a non-volatile memory storing encrypted information. In use, the key card provides access to the lock and transfers the encrypted information between the lock and the database via the card reader and the administrator microprocessor. The administrator microprocessor provides a user interface for reviewing and administering the database. The user interface also provides account and password qualification for users.

A vehicle identification system. The system includes an electronic access card for storing information associated with a user of the electronic access card, a card reader for receiving the electronic access card and for reading the associated information and a display for receiving at least a portion of the associated information from the card reader and for displaying the portion of associated information when the user operates a vehicle. The display is located on the vehicle, and the displayed information includes at least a unique identifier assigned to the user of the electronic access card. In one arrangement, the unique identifier assigned to the user of the electronic access card can be transferrable to other vehicles such that the identifier can be displayed on any vehicle having the card reader and the display when the user operates such vehicle.

Unauthorized entry into controlled access areas using tailgating or reverse entry methods is detected using machine vision methods. Camera images of the controlled area are processed to identify and track objects in the controlled area. In a preferred embodiment, this processing includes 3D surface analysis to distinguish and classify objects in the field of view. Feature extraction, color analysis, and pattern recognition may also be used for identification and tracking of objects. Integration with security monitoring and control systems provides notification when a tailgating or reverse entry event has occurred. More reliable operation in practical circumstances is thus obtained, such as when multiple people are using an entrance or exit under variable light and shadow conditions. Electronic access control systems may further be combined with the machine vision methods of the invention to more effectively prevent tailgating or reverse entry.

A system and method for cellular telephone based electronic access control (EAC) of secured portals is depicted. The EAC system determines whether access to any particular secured portal is to be granted to a user based on the relative geographic positions of the secured portal and the user's cellular telephone. If the cellular telephone is within a configurable radius of the secured portal, the EAC system checks its database to determine whether the user of the cellular telephone has been granted access privileges to the secured portal. If the user has been granted access privileges, the EAC system electronically unlocks the secured portal.

Disclosed is an electronic visitation registration (EVR) system for registering visitors to visit with residents of a controlled-environment facility, such as a correctional facility. In certain embodiments, EVR is operable to interact with visitors and determine whether to authorize a requested visitation session with a resident of the controlled-environment facility. Thus, in certain embodiments, the EVR can autonomously interact with a visitor and perform the registration process for such visitor, thereby alleviating the requirement of involvement by a facility employee for such registration. The EVR may be accessible local to the controlled-environment facility (e.g., as a kiosk), and/or it may be accessible via a communication network, such as the Internet. Thus, the EVR may allow a remote user to schedule and register for a future visit. Additionally, other services, such as funding an account or contacting a third party, may be available through the EVR.

An environment monitoring system and method for systematically and continuously monitoring an environment. The system and method includes a data acquisition system which is programmed to systematically collect environmentair quality environmental data and non-weather data for a site. The data acquisition system includes sensors coupled to a data storage device having a remote access device for electronic access from a remote system. Data may be uploaded to a remote database for storing environment data from many sites. The remote database includes a remote access device so that the data storage devices of various data acquisition sites can be electronically coupled to the remote database for centralized data collection and storage.

A method for providing access includes providing an electronic access card having a biometric identifier, biometrically identifying with the electronic access card an authorized user of the electronic access card, signaling a monitoring station when the user is identified, receiving an enabling signal from the monitoring station, and providing access in response to the receipt of the enabling signal. Described is a device for electronic access control (EAC) and surveillance. The device includes an EAC module and an imager integrated in a single unit. The EAC module controls physical access through a secure portal and the imager maintains surveillance of an observation area near the portal. The present invention provides for a handle set for a lock with a latch, the handle set having an authentication circuit and actuator in the interior handle that allow access to authenticated transponders. The invention discloses a remote access control system based on terminal fingerprint identification.
