1692 results about "Ignition system" patented technology

An ignition system generates a spark or heats an electrode to a high temperature to ignite a fuel-air mixture in spark ignition internal combustion engines, oil-fired and gas-fired boilers, rocket engines, etc. The widest application for spark ignition internal combustion engines is in petrol (gasoline) road vehicles such as cars and motorcycles.

Ignition system with driver identification

System and method for positively identifying an operator through biometric means which shall prevent unauthorized or impaired operation of a motor vehicle by requiring the potential operator to sequentially energize several vehicle devices, within a set time period, prior to placing the vehicle ignition into a start position. The system includes a device for measuring an operator's biometric identification, and a microcontroller. Logic outputs from the sequencing mechanism and the timer mechanism are contained within the microcontroller operating as a logic decoder that is used to control the vehicle ignition circuit. The microcontroller monitors the sequence in which the vehicle's devices are energized, and if they are energized within the correct order and within the predetermined amount of time then the microcontroller will output a signal to allow the ignition circuit to close. A sensory indicator may alert the potential operator as to the condition of the microcontroller output. An unauthorized user is inhibited from operating the motor vehicle because their identification could not be biometrically established and/or the performance sequence is unknown to him/her. Slower reflex times or impaired motor skills may also prevent an impaired operator from performing the proper sequence within the predetermined time period.

Breath alcohol ignition interlock device with biometric facial recognition with real-time verification of the user

An interlock system using biometrics scans to identify in real-time an individual who seeks to operate a mechanical device, such as an automobile. Biometrics features that uniquely identify an individual are selected. If a real-time biometrics scan of the individual does not match a stored image of an authorized operator, the interlock system will lock the mechanical device to prevent operation. The interlock system may be used in conjunction with a breath alcohol analyzer to determine impairment. If the biometrics testing indicates that the individual is required to be tested for impairment, the mechanical device will not operate until the testing is completed. If the biometrics testing automatically indicates that the operator of the mechanical apparatus and the individual exhaling into the breath alcohol analyzer component of the ignition interlock is not the same person, the ignition system of the mechanical apparatus, which operates in conjunction with the ignition interlock of the present invention, provides a programmable software option to prevent the apparatus from starting. If the test indicates that the individual is impaired the interlock system will lock the mechanical device to prevent operation.

Roller-type reverse thermal desorption system for soil polluted by organic matters

The invention relates to a roller-type reverse thermal desorption system for soil polluted by organic matters. The roller-type reverse thermal desorption system comprises a soil feeding system, wherein the soil feeding system and a heat source system are connected with a reverse thermal desorption system; the reverse thermal desorption system is connected with a dust removing system, a cooling system and an active carbon adsorption system in turn; and control ends of the soil feeding system, the heat source system, the reverse thermal desorption system, the dust removing system, the cooling system and the active carbon adsorption system are connected with a control system. In the roller-type reverse thermal desorption system, hot air is fed into a reverse thermal desorption roller by an ignition system, and polluted soil is fed into the reverse thermal desorption roller by a soil transferring device, wherein the hot air contacts the soil reversely, so that organic pollutants contained in the soil are heated and volatilized; the purified soil is used as backfill soil; and the volatilized tail gas is dedusted by a cyclone dust extractor and an adsorption dust extractor after passing through an induced draft fan, and the dedusted volatilized tail gas is absorbed by a honeycomb-shaped active carbon tower after passing through an atomization cooling tower and a dial plate cooling device, and finally is discharged by a tail gas exhaust device on the basis of meeting the national standard. Materials can be fed into the roller-type reverse thermal desorption system continuously and can be heated directly; and the hot air and the polluted soil are fully mixed, and the roller-type reverse thermal desorption system has high thermal desorption efficiency.

Automated fault diagnosis method and system for engine-compressor sets

The automated fault diagnostic system operates on engine-compressor sets with one vibration sensor per sub-group of engine cylinders and one sensor per compressor cylinder. Vibration signals linked to crankshaft phase angle windows (“VT”) mark various engine events and compressor events. In data-acquisition-learning mode, VT is stored for each engine and compressor event per operating load condition, statistical process control (SPC) theory identifies alarm threshold bands. Operator input-overrides are permitted. If no baseline data is stored, the system automatically enters the learn mode. To monitor, current VT are obtained and current load condition is matched to the earlier load set and alarms issue linking predetermined engine or compressor event to the over-under VT. Baseline data, SPC analysis, alarms and monitoring are set for crankcase flow, engine cylinder exhaust temperatures, ignition system diagnostic messages. Compressor performance alarms use suction and discharge temperatures and pressures.

Vehicle surveillance and control system

A vehicle surveillance and control system is provided which has a camera for creating video data and a transmitter coupled to the camera for transmitting the video data to a receiver. The surveillance system can also have a microphone for providing audio data for transmission. The receiver is then coupled to a recorder and possibly a monitor. If the operator of the vehicle is not authorized to operate the vehicle (a thief) or to perform an activity (operation of the vehicle recklessly or while intoxicated) then the activities of the operator can be recorded or monitored and the data can be utilized to convict, penalize, or fine an individual or to implement remote control of the vehicle. The camera can also monitor activity outside the vehicle such as a hit and run, a parking lot impact or theft of a tire. In one embodiment, the receiver can be coupled to a monitor and the video data can be viewed in real-time. The system can also include an Input / Output module and a vehicle system control module, wherein the Input / Output module can receive and display video and send a control signal having an identification code to the vehicle system control module wherein the vehicle system control module can control the operation of a vehicle system such as the ignition system or the fuel system thereby stopping dangerous operation of the vehicle and reducing potential economic losses and loss of life.

Energetic material initiation device utilizing exploding foil initiated ignition system with secondary explosive material

A device and method that employs a detonation event as an energy source for producing a pyrotechnic output. The device includes an initiation charge that is selectively detonated by an exploding foil initiator. Byproducts from the detonation event are attenuated by a barrier that is disposed between the initiation charge and an ignition charge. The barrier participates in a chemical reaction with the detonation byproducts to oxidize and burn. In this regard, the barrier serves as a fuel that is employed to ignite the ignition charge. The device includes a sealed housing in which the initiator, initiation charge and ignition charges are housed. The housing ruptures in response to the heat and pressure generated by the ignited ignition charge to release the pyrotechnic output.
