Baseline data. Initial collection of data which serves as a basis for comparison with the subsequently acquired data.

Systems and methods for backing up data files

The invention provides systems and methods for continuous back up of data stored on a computer network. To this end the systems of the invention include a synchronization process that replicates selected source data files data stored on the network and to create a corresponding set of replicated data files, called the target data files, that are stored on a back up server. This synchronization process builds a baseline data structure of target data files. In parallel to this synchronization process, the system includes a dynamic replication process that includes a plurality of agents, each of which monitors a portion of the source data files to detect and capture, at the byte-level, changes to the source data files. Each agent may record the changes to a respective journal file, and as the dynamic replication process detects that the journal files contain data, the journal files are transferred or copied to the back up server so that the captured changes can be written to the appropriate ones of the target data files.

System and method for quantifying the dynamic response of a target system

A time series of optical tomography data is obtained for a target tissue site in a human (or animal), using an optical wavelength, such as near infrared, at which hemoglobin is absorptive, to observe properties of the vasculature of the human. The data may be compared to baseline data of a corresponding tissue site, e.g., from a healthy human, or from another, corresponding tissue site of the human. For example, a suspected cancerous breast of a human may be compared to a known healthy breast to detect differences in the vasculature. Measures may be made of flow, oxygen supply / demand imbalance, and evidence of altered regulation of the peripheral effector mechanism. The function of the target tissue site may be analyzed, along with the coordinated interaction between multiple sites of the target system. A provocation may be administered to identify surrogate markers of an underlying state or process.

Assessment of sales force personnel for improvement of sales performance

Personality, behavior and competency assessment data is obtained for a sales person (or group of sales persons), particularly via a computer-implemented interface. The resulting overall individual (or aggregated) assessment data is then compared with high sales performer benchmark data to identify performance improvement opportunities that, in turn, are used to identify at least one specific action for the sales person (or group of sales persons). Such techniques may be use with sales management personnel as well. Reports based on the assessment results and comparisons thereof with high sales performer benchmark data may be created and provided to the individuals being assessed or persons associated with the individual sales persons. The personality, behavior and competency assessment data may also be used to identify predictive characteristics of high sales performers that may be subsequently used to predict other characteristics of individuals or groups.

Mehtod and system for deployed operations support

The invention is generally related to operations support systems and more specifically, to a method of and system for deployed maintenance operations for equipment or assets. Existing web-based systems support organizations may be spread over large geographies, but only insofar as each part of that organization can remain fully-connected to the central server or data centre. The system described herein, on the other hand, allows portions of the organization to operate for long periods of time without a dedicated connection, while keeping technical records accurate. The system described herein allows a customer to set up a ‘deployed site’, which is effectively an environment that operates as a partial copy of the master site (which contains baseline data), and is only allowed to operate on a specific subset of the assets in the system (say, a fleet of aircraft). This deployed environment has all the required configuration and transactional data to run as a standalone system until the deployment is no longer required. At that time, the deployed site can be decommissioned by transferring the assets out to other sites, deployed or not.

Automated fault diagnosis method and system for engine-compressor sets

The automated fault diagnostic system operates on engine-compressor sets with one vibration sensor per sub-group of engine cylinders and one sensor per compressor cylinder. Vibration signals linked to crankshaft phase angle windows (“VT”) mark various engine events and compressor events. In data-acquisition-learning mode, VT is stored for each engine and compressor event per operating load condition, statistical process control (SPC) theory identifies alarm threshold bands. Operator input-overrides are permitted. If no baseline data is stored, the system automatically enters the learn mode. To monitor, current VT are obtained and current load condition is matched to the earlier load set and alarms issue linking predetermined engine or compressor event to the over-under VT. Baseline data, SPC analysis, alarms and monitoring are set for crankcase flow, engine cylinder exhaust temperatures, ignition system diagnostic messages. Compressor performance alarms use suction and discharge temperatures and pressures.

Method of determining reservoir pressure

A new approach is disclosed for measuring the pressure of tight gas reservoirs, using information obtain from continuous injection prior to hydraulic fracture stimulation. The technique can be obtained utilizing either bottom-hole or surface pressure gauges and properly instrumented surface injection pumps. The analysis is completed by plotting injection and rate data in a specialized form from terms arranged in Darcy's radial flow equation to obtain a curve or trend. The key component to proper application of this technique is to obtain both baseline and one or more calibration data sets. These calibration data sets are obtained by either increasing or decreasing the injection pressure and / or rate from the baseline data. Initial reservoir pressure is assumed, but the calibration data indicates if the guess was too high or low. Accurate estimates of reservoir pressure may be obtained in a few iterations.

Thermal history sensor

An improved thermal history sensor having multiple glass ceramic substrates with unique compositions is disclosed. By positioning the sensor adjacent to a component subject to thermal stressors, each of the glass ceramic substrates react with a different rate of nucleation and crystal growth and thus yield a specific measure of opacity. By comparing these values representing the opacity for each glass ceramic substrate, or thermal history fingerprint, to baseline data, information about the expected remaining useful lifetime of the component may be obtained.

A face image synthesis method and device based on adversarial learning

The invention relates to a face image synthesis method and device based on adversarial learning. The method provides a novel generative adversarial network (FC-GAN), and aims to synthesize a front face image under the standard illumination from an occluded face image. The FC-GAN uses a convolutional neural network structure an encoder-decoder as a generator, and two discriminators are introduced at the same time, one is a global discriminator used for distinguishing the authenticity of a whole face image, and meanwhile, the identity information of a person is kept unchanged; and the other oneis a local discriminator which is used for distinguishing the authenticity of the shielding area in the human face. In addition, a human face semantic segmentation network is introduced to strengthenthe consistency of five sense organs of a human face in the generated image. And by comparing the semantic tags of the synthesized face image and the real face image, the gradient is transmitted backto the generator to adjust the five sense organs of the synthesized face image. Experimental results on the reference data set Multi-PIE show that the FC-GAN performance is superior to that of most existing methods.

Method and system for no downtime resychronization for real-time, continuous data protection

A data management system or “DMS” provides an automated, continuous, real-time data protection service to one or more data sources associated with a set of application host servers. To facilitate the service, a host driver embedded in an application server captures real-time data transactions. When a data protection command for a given data source is forwarded to a host driver, an event processor enters into an initial upload state. During this state, the event processor gathers a list of data items to be protected and creates a data list. Then, the event processor moves the data to a DMS core to create initial baseline data. The upload is a stream of application-aware data chunks that are attached to upload events. A resynchronization state is entered when there is a suspicion that the state of the data in the host is out-of-sync with the state of the most current data in the DMS. During upload or upward resynchronization, the application does not have to be shut down.
