UICC Carrier Switching Via Over-The-Air Technology

Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to provisioning a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) with multiple services. The UICC enables a wireless communication device to communicate through multiple carriers by using a unique virtual subscriber identity module (SIM) to register with each carrier. The unique virtual SIM is one of a plurality of virtual SIMs stored on and managed by the UICC. A carrier network includes a server for provisioning a new virtual SIM on a UICC over-the-air (OTA) when a new customer requests a service such as voice, data, or other type of service. These UICCs may also include logic to automatically select the best carrier for a voice call depending on the user settings.

Virtual world avatar control, interactivity and communication interactive messaging

Methods and systems for rendering an interactive virtual environment for communication is provided. The interactive virtual environment is depicted from images to be displayed on a display and the interactive virtual environment is generated by a computer program that is executed on at least one computer of a computer network system. The interactive virtual environment includes one or more virtual user avatars controlled by real-world users. The method further includes controlling a virtual user avatar to move about a virtual space and generating an interface for composing a message to be displayed as a virtual message within the virtual space. The virtual message is posted to an interactive space within the virtual space. The method further includes associating permissions to the virtual message, such that the permissions define which of the one more virtual user avatars are able to view the virtual message that is posted to the interactive space. The virtual message is one of a plurality of virtual message posted to the interactive space, and the permissions prevent viewing of the virtual message by virtual user avatars that do not have permission to view the virtual message. The permissions may be based on one of buddy lists, game familiarity relative to other real-world users, skill level of other real-world users, and combinations thereof. In some embodiments, the avatars can be computer controlled bots, thus not requiring a real-world user to dictate control.

Use of a single thread to support multiple network connections for server load testing

A load testing system for testing a web site or other type of server system uses a thread architecture that reduces the computing resources needed to generate a desired load. The load testing system runs several virtual users on one or more clients to simulate user interactions with the web site. Each virtual user is executed as a virtual user thread under a process on a client computer. Each virtual user thread itself establishes and supports multiple connections to the web site; therefore, an additional thread need not be created for each connection. For each connection, the virtual user thread performs a sequence of functions in an asynchronous mode to establish and support the connection. If a function cannot complete without blocking, it immediately returns a RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE error code. If a function returns a RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE code, the calling thread switches execution to another task. After the condition causing the RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE error code has been resolved, the thread can switch back to executing the interrupted task. In this manner, the single thread is able to support multiple simultaneous connections.

A system and method for remote postage metering of postage indicia, including demanding a desired postage amount and subsequently printing the postage indicia onto a piece of mail. A user inputs certain necessary information, as well as additional desired information, into a local processor-based system. The local system then assembles a postage demand in suitable format and transmits the same to a remote postage metering device. The remote postage metering device then verifies the demand for authority to demand and valid funding. Upon verification, the remote postage meter serves the transaction by configuring a shared device using virtual user device data structures and assembles a data packet representing an authorized postage indicia. The data packet is transmitted to the local system for printing. Printing of the postage indicia may be unaccompanied, or may include additional information. Such additional information may include destination and return address, machine readable routing or identification information, or a complete document to be posted.

Method and system for physical mapping in a virtual world

A method and system for capturing user actions in the real world and mapping the users, their actions, and their avatars into a three dimensional virtual environment. Data representing real world users are captured, collected and sent to a virtual proxy bridge, which transforms the data into control signal for avatars, which are then mapped to the virtual environment. The real world avatars move around in parallel with the users in the real world via the use of data capture devices such as radio frequency identification (“RFID”) readers, triangulation or global positioning satellite (“GPS”) systems, and cameras. Real world users can therefore be represented as virtual users, thus removing the distinction between real world users and virtual environment users.

Virtual subscriber identifier system and method

The invention provides a virtual subscriber identifier system and method of a communication network. According to one embodiment of the invention, a subscriber generates virtual subscriber identifiers by him / her self, generates a subscriber identity mapping data by which a identifier service provider can figure out the real identifier of the owner of the virtual subscriber identifier, and informs peers of the virtual subscriber identifiers. The subscriber identify mapping data may be a data in which a virtual subscriber identifier is associated to the real identifier of the subscriber, and be registered by the subscriber with the identifier service provider. A peer generates a communicating request including a virtual subscriber identifier as target, and sends the request to the identifier service provider, the identifier service provider determines the real identifier of the subscriber from the subscriber identity mapping data, and forwards the communication between the peer and the subscriber's terminal. In another embodiment, the subscriber identity mapping data may be a secret data of the subscriber, by which the virtual subscriber identifier can figure out the real identifier of the subscriber. When receiving the communication request, the identifier service provider decrypts the real identifier of the owner of the virtual subscriber identifier from the secret data received from the peer. In one embodiment, the virtual subscriber identifier is generated from the public key of the subscriber. The virtual subscriber identifier may be equipped with a certificate, or be associated with a magic word. With the invention, the use of the virtual subscriber identifiers is more flexible to the system and versatile to the subscriber.
