A composite insulator containing means for providing early warning of impending failure due to stress corrosion cracking, flashunder, or destruction of the rod by discharge activity conditions is described. A composite insulator comprising a fiberglass rod surrounded by a polymer housing and connected with metal end fittings on either end of the rod is doped with a dye-based chemical dopant. The dopant is located around the vicinity of the outer surface of the fiberglass rod. The dopant is formulated to possess migration and diffusion characteristics, and to be inert in dry conditions and compatible with the insulator components. The dopant is positioned within the insulator such that upon the penetration of moisture through the housing to the rod through a permeation pathway in the outer surface of the insulator, the dopant will become activated and will leach out of the same permeation pathway or diffuse through the housing. The activated dopant then creates a deposit or stain on the outer surface of the insulator housing. The dopant comprises an oil-soluble dye, an indicator, or a stain compound that can either be visually identified, or is sensitive to radiation at one or more specific wavelengths. The dopant could also be formulated by a nanoparticle enabled material. Deposits of activated dopant on the outer surface of the insulator can be detected upon imaging of the outer surface of the insulator by appropriate imaging instruments or the naked eye.

Method of fabricating a high performance MOSFET device featuring formation of an elevated source/drain region

A method of fabricating a MOSFET device featuring a raised source / drain structure on a heavily doped source / drain region as well as on a portion of a lightly doped source / drain (LDD), region, after removal of an insulator spacer component, has been developed. After formation of an LDD region a composite insulator spacer, comprised of an underlying silicon oxide spacer component and an overlying silicon nitride spacer component, is formed on the sides of a gate structure. Formation of a heavily doped source / drain is followed by removal of the silicon nitride spacer resulting in recessing of, and damage formation to, the heavily doped source / drain region, as well as recessing of the gate structure. Removal of a horizontal component of the silicon oxide spacer component results in additional recessing of the heavily doped source / drain region, and of the gate structure. A selective epitaxial growth procedure is then used to form a raised, single crystalline silicon structure on the recessed and damaged heavily doped source / drain and LDD regions, while a polycrystalline silicon structure is grown on the underlying recessed gate structure. Metal silicide is then formed on the raised, single crystalline silicon structure and on the polycrystalline silicon structure.

The method comprises the following steps: firstly measuring hardness, hydrophobicity, a surface defect area, an infrared absorption peak corresponding to a Si-O-Si group, a trap charge amount and a flashover voltage of a high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber test sample of an umbrella skirt of a target composite insulator; then performing quantitative processing on the measured data, and scoring the aging degrees of the processed feature parameters; performing weighted summation on the scores of the feature parameters to obtain a comprehensive feature parameter characterizing the aging degree of the composite insulator; and finally determining the aging degree of the insulator according to a corresponding relation between the size of the comprehensive feature parameter and the grade of the aging degree. According to the multi-dimensional parameter assessment method provided by the invention, the microscopic electrical characteristics and microscopic physical and chemical characteristics of the umbrella skirt material of the composite insulator are combined with macroscopic characteristics to realize the comprehensive assessment of the aging degree of the composite insulator. By adoption of the method, the one-sidedness of the traditional assessment method is avoided, and thus the accuracy of an assessment result is guaranteed.

The invention discloses a method and system for detecting a composite insulator interface. The method comprises the following steps of: sampling from a composite insulator to be detected to obtain an experimental group insulator and a reference group insulator; subsequently carrying out a boiling experiment on the experimental group insulator; installing the reference group insulator and the experimental group insulator in electrode structures of respective high voltage circuit and exerting voltage to the electrode structures; detecting leakage currents of the experimental group insulator and the reference group insulator by using leakage current detecting devices in the high voltage circuits; and simutaneously detecting the surface temperatures of the experimental group insulator and the reference group insulator by using a surface temperature tester; and judging whether a defect such as debonding exists at the interface of a protective jeacket and a core bar of the composite insulator to be detected according to the leakage current and the surface temperature of the experimental group insulator and the reference group insulator. With the adoption of the method and the system, the defect such as debonding of the protective jacket and the core bar can be identified effectively with high detection efficiency and low detection cost.

The plane radio-frequency coil is formed by two spiral coils which are connected in series on a plane according to the reverse direction of the magnetic field, and the plane radio-frequency coil is used for generating radio-frequency magnetic field B1 orthometric with the main magnetic field in a target region, and detecting return signals produced by a sample to be tested. During the aging detection of the umbrella skirt of the composite insulator, the slide mechanism is adjusted to enable the sensor to clamp the umbrella skirt to be tested, so that the transverse relaxation time T2 of the umbrella skirt can be measured, and further, the aging degree of the umbrella skirt can be judged according to the transverse relaxation time T2. The open-type nuclear magnetic resonance sensor has the advantages of small volume, light weight, and convenience in engineering field detection.

The invention is characterized in that: an integrated umbrella is stuck at the out side of an insulation tube; the insulation tube is a wound tube with an inner liner; the umbrella is an injecting-formed part made of high-temperature vulcanization silicon rubber, and because the inner liner of the insulation tube is an epoxy resin adhesive and SF6 decomposition mixing and solidifying structure, the anti-corrosion performance of the product is greatly increased; the umbrella is hot-solidified on the surface of the insulation tube at high vacuum and high temperature, so the connecting strength between the umbrella and the insulation tube is high, and the product performance is more stable and reliable. When winding the insulation tube, a track is first simulated on a computer, and then pins are fixed on both shaft ends of the mold core. When winding, a tension mechanism with even and constant tensile force is used for control, thus realizing even paving of the glass fiber.

Removal of a horizontal component of the silicon oxide spacer component results in additional recessing of the heavily doped source / drain region, and of the gate structure. A selective epitaxial growth procedure is then used to form a raised, single crystalline silicon structure on the recessed and damaged heavily doped source / drain and LDD regions, while a polycrystalline silicon structure is grown on the underlying recessed gate structure. Metal silicide is then formed on the raised, single crystalline silicon structure and on the polycrystalline silicon structure.
