The invention belongs to the technical field of seed
germination, and discloses a simple method for improving seed
germination of
canna edulis ker. The simple method comprises the following steps that fully ripe fruits are harvested, seeds are stripped out, shrunk immature seeds and impurities are removed, and the seeds are hung in a shady, cool and ventilated place by using a net cage for natural
drying; at the end of April and the beginning of May, seed soaking and
germination accelerating are started when the
air temperature is stabilized to be 16 DEG C or above; high-temperature water which is boiled to 90 DEG C is poured into a pot containing the
canna edulis ker seeds, soaking is carried out for 3 hours, and soaking water is poured out; water is re-boiled to 90 DEG C, soaking is carried out for 20 hours, and the seeds are washed with clear water; ridging and compartment
sowing are carried out, compartment surfaces are flat, the compartment surfaces are thoroughly sprayed and watered before
sowing, and a layer of dry fine soil is scattered on the compartment surfaces; the seeds are uniformly scattered and covered with a layer of fine soil after
sowing, and the seeds are thoroughly watered with mist; and a small arched shed is built for heat preservation and germination acceleration,
soil humidity is observed,
drying and water supplementing are carried out, and two ends of the arched shed are opened in sunny days after seedlings emerge from the soil. The hard seeds of
canna edulis ker are treated by using a two-time high-temperature water
scalding method, and the method is simple, convenient and easy to operate, labor-saving, time-saving and economical.
