Mobile Person-to-Person Payment System

A mobile payment platform and service provides a fast, easy way to make payments by users of mobile devices. The platform also interfaces with nonmobile channels and devices such as e-mail, instant messenger, and Web. In an implementation, funds are accessed from an account holder's mobile device such as a mobile phone or a personal digital assistant to make or receive payments. Financial transactions can be conducted on a person-to-person (P2P) or person-to-merchant (P2M) basis where each party is identified by a unique indicator such as a telephone number or bar code. Transactions can be requested through any number of means including SMS messaging, Web, e-mail, instant messenger, a mobile client application, an instant messaging plug-in application or “widget.” The mobile client application, resident on the mobile device, simplifies access and performing financial transactions in a fast, secure manner.

Plasma ignition for direct injected internal combustion engines

An apparatus and method for the creation, placement and control of an area of electrical ionization within an internal combustion engine combustion chamber. This area of electrical ionization is positioned so that all of the fuel being injected into the combustion chamber must pass next to or through the area of electrical ionization to ensure that combustion has been initiated for all of the fuel as it is injected. This area of electrical ionization can be kept on as long as it is necessary to insure that the all of the fuel that is injected into the combustion chamber can be completely combusted. An engine equipped with this electrical ionization device has its fuel economy enhanced by timely, controlled, and complete combustion of all of the fuel injected into its combustion chamber. Furthermore, the pollutant emissions of both oxides of nitrogen and unburned hydrocarbons are reduced dramatically. Further, cold starting capability of this engine is greatly enhanced by a major reduction in the time necessary for the engine to warm up and a major reduction of pollutants created by the engine during the warm-up period. Additionally, this method of combustion also allows the engine to operate at a higher speed (rpm) allowing an increase in peak power output.

Materials, filters, and systems for immobilizing combustion by-products and controlling lubricant viscosity

A chemical filter for use within an internal combustion engine lubrication system. The chemical filter employs filtration media including particles having internal pores and interstitial pores formed between adjacent particles. The internal pores and the interstitial pores collectively define filtration media pores, and a strong base material is associated with at least some of the internal pores. The filtration media has a surface area greater than or equal to 25 m2 / gm that is derived from filtration media pores that are large enough to receive a combustion acid-weak base complex contained within oil flowing through the chemical filter. This enables an ion-exchange process to occur that immobilizes the combustion acids and regenerates the weak base, so as to extend the time intervals between oil drains, among other benefits.

System and kit for stress and relaxation management

This invention relates to a system and a kit for stress and relaxation management. A cardiac activity sensor (101) is used for measuring the heart rate variability (HRV) signal of the user and a respiration sensor (102) for measuring the respiratory signal of the user. The system contains a user interaction device (103) having an input unit (104) for receiving user specific data and an output unit for providing information output to the user. A processor (106) is used to assess the stress level of the user by determining a user related stress index. The processor is also used to monitor the user during a relaxation exercise by means of determining a relaxation index based on the measured HRV and respiratory signals, the relaxation index being continuously adapted to the incoming measured signals and based thereon the processor instructs the output unit to provide the user with biofeedback and support messages. Finally, the processor uses the user specific data as an input in generating a first set of rules defining an improvement plan for self-management of stress and relaxation. The first set of rules is adapted to trigger commands instructing the output unit to provide the user with motivation related messages. Also, at least a portion of said user specific data is further used to define a second set of rules indicating the user's personal goals.

Sensor infrastructure

A device for use in detecting an event in a structure comprises a sensor encapsulation, the encapsulation containing a sensor, an actuator positioned substantially in-plane to the sensor within the housing and a printed circuit board in communication with at least one of the sensor and the actuator. the printed circuit board includes a microprocessor constructed and arranged to collect data from at least one of the sensor and the actuator, a signal generator constructed and arranged to provide excitation to at least one of the sensor and the actuator, and an amplifier to condition the excitation.
