The degradable wrap is fitted around the foam element and temporarily maintains the foam element in a compressed state against an outer surface of a downhole sand control device. It is provided to keep the foam element in the compressed state while a production assembly comprising the downhole sand control device and foam element mounted thereon is placed downhole in a well bore adjacent to a production zone. The degradable wrap is permeable to the production fluid and degrades over time. Once the degradable wrap has degraded the foam element fills the annulus between the production screen and casing string or well bore wall. The foam element acts to inhibit the flow of water along the annulus and is useful in zone isolation.

Method and apparatus for producing multiple zones from a single wellbore wherein a hollow whipstock is used to complete a lateral into an upper zone which lies above a lower producing zone. The whipstock has openings through its tapered face which, in turn, are sealed by dissolvable plugs (e.g. aluminum). Once the lateral has been completed, a reagent (e.g. hydrochloric acid) is pumped down the wellbore to dissolve the plugs and open the openings through the face of the whipstock thereby allowing the flow from the lower zone to pass through the whipstock to be produced up through the wellbore along with the flow from the upper production zone.

Multiple formations are isolated in the wellbore and fractured and gravel packed together. The bottom hole assembly can have a series of screens that are separated with packers in between and above and below the screen stack. The assembly is positioned where needed in the borehole and the topmost and lowermost packers (if used) are set. The bottom of the interval can alternatively be the hole bottom. With multiple intervals isolated a fracturing operation can take place for the entire isolated interval that can encompass multiple producing zones. The interval can also be gravel packed in a single operation. After the gravel pack of the interval, packers that are on the bottom hole assembly between screens that are aligned with perforations for different zones can be set into the gravel pack and get an effective seal against the casing to isolate the various producing zones from each other.
