105 results about "Vasoconstriction" patented technology

Vasoconstriction is the narrowing of the blood vessels resulting from contraction of the muscular wall of the vessels, in particular the large arteries and small arterioles. The process is the opposite of vasodilation, the widening of blood vessels. The process is particularly important in staunching hemorrhage and acute blood loss. When blood vessels constrict, the flow of blood is restricted or decreased, thus retaining body heat or increasing vascular resistance. This makes the skin turn paler because less blood reaches the surface, reducing the radiation of heat. On a larger level, vasoconstriction is one mechanism by which the body regulates and maintains mean arterial pressure.

Compositions, formulations and kit with anti-sense oligonucleotide and anti-inflammatory steroid and/or obiquinone for treatment of respiratory and lung disesase

A pharmaceutical composition and formulations comprise preventative, prophylactic or therapeutic amounts of an oligo(s) anti-sense to a specific gene(s) or its corresponding mRNA(s), and a glucocorticoid and/or non-glucocorticoid steroid or a ubiquinone or their salts. The agents, composition and formulations are used for treatment of ailments associated with impaired respiration, bronchoconstriction, lung allergy(ies) or inflammation, and abnormal levels of adenosine, adenosine receptors, sensitivity to adenosine, lung surfactant and ubiquinone, such as pulmonary fibrosis, vasoconstriction, inflammation, allergies, allergic rhinitis, asthma, impeded respiration, lung pain, cystic fibrosis, bronchoconstriction, COPD, RDS, ARDS, cancer, and others. The present treatment is effectively administered by itself for conditions without known therapies, as a substitute for therapies exhibiting undesirable side effects, or in combination with other treatments, e.g. before, during and after other respiratory system therapies, radiation, chemotherapy, antibody therapy and surgery, among others. Each of the agents of this invention may be administered directly into the respiratory system so that they gain direct access to the lungs, or by other effective routes of administration. A kit comprises a delivery device, the agents and instructions for its use.

Methods and devices for catheter-based intracoronary myocardial delivery of cellular, genetic or biological materials

Methods and systems infuse therapeutic materials into a vascular vessel by means of a catheter based infusion system. In especially preferred forms, the infusate (which comprises a therapeutic material) is infused through a distal end of the catheter and into the vascular vessel by delivering the infusate to the catheter at a substantially constant flow rate while simultaneously imparting a pressure amplitude and frequency to the infusate in dependence upon a sensed pressure condition within the vessel. Preferably, and the pressure amplitude imparted to the constant flow rate of infusate is about twice the vessel systolic pressure. The present invention is therefore especially well suited for the catheter-based infusion of relatively large particles, such as cellular, genetic, viral, polymeric or proteinaceous materials, intravascularly in dependence upon the pressure and flow characteristics of the infusate.

The invention discloses an intrauterine compression hemostasis method which comprises the following steps of: putting an elastic hemostasis bag in uterus, and filling low-temperature medium into the elastic hemostasis bag, wherein after the volume of the elastic hemostasis bag is expanded, the compression hemostasis is realized through the pressure of the elastic hemostasis bag on the inner wall of the uterus, and the vasoconstriction of the uterus is promoted by the low-temperature medium. A device realizing the method comprises the elastic hemostasis bag and a connection pipe, wherein the elastic hemostasis bag is provided with only one open end; the open end is in sealed connection with one end of the connection pipe; and a valve is arranged at one end of the connection pipe. The shape of the expanded elastic hemostasis bag is similar to that of the uterine cavity, and pressure in the uterine cavity is uniform; and when the pressure exceeds the systolic arterial pressure, a hemostasis effect is generated for sure. By monitoring the pressure, the autonomous uterine contraction can be discovered in time; and a temperature measuring device displays the change of water temperature, and the ice water can be replaced in time so as to avoid weakening of the hemostasis effect. According to the invention, the operation is simple, the monitoring is visual, the bleeding is minimized to a greatest extent, and the life safety of the patient is guaranteed.

Wearable health monitoring device

A wearable health monitoring includes a monitoring main-body, a wearable component and a biometric monitoring module. The wearable component is connected with the monitoring main-body. The biometric monitoring module is disposed within the monitoring main-body and includes a photoelectric sensor, a pressure sensor and an air-pressure-based blood pressure meter. The air-pressure-based blood pressure meter is embedded and positioned in the embedding slot portion of the embedding seat, and includes a gas-collecting actuator and an elastic air-bag. The gas-collecting actuator transports a gas to the elastic air-bag, and the elastic air-bag is inflated and elastically protrudes to attach to a skin tissue of a wearing user. The pressure sensor measures vasoconstriction pulsation under the skin tissue. A detection signal is generated and converted into health data information, which is outputted to the photoelectric sensor for calibrating a calculation of detection thereof to output precise health data information.

Method for producing no/n2 gaseous mixtures intended for the medical field

The invention relates to a method for producing an NO / N2 gaseous mixture, comprising the steps of effecting a purification of impure gaseous nitrogen containing impurities at least of the O2 type by putting the impure nitrogen in contact with a catalyst and then with a molecular sieve; mixing the pure nitrogen obtained with nitric oxide (NO), and obtaining a mixture formed from NO and pure nitrogen containing an NO content of less than 20% by volume and a proportion of impurities of the O2 type of less than 5 ppmv and of the H2O type of less than 40 ppmv. The NO / nitrogen mixture may undergo supplementary dilutions with pure nitrogen. Such NO / nitrogen mixtures can be used for treating, by inhalation, pulmonary vasoconstrictions in adults or children, in particular in new-born babies suffering from primitive pulmonary hypertension or in patients undergoing heart surgery.
