The invention discloses a preparation method of a star polyacrylamide polymer taking polymine as a core. The method comprises the following step of: initiating a polymerization reaction of an aqueous solution of acrylamide or a mixed aqueous solution of acrylamide and a comonomer by using thioxanthone-modified polymine shown as a formula (II) under illumination to obtain a product, wherein the molar ratio of the comonomer to the polymine is 0.3-0.6 percent; a core A is the thioxanthone-modified polymine shown as the formula (II); the polymerization degree N is 1-16; and an arm B is an acrylamide homopolymer or a copolymer formed by acrylamide and a comonomer. In the invention, the polymerization reaction is fully undergone in water, so that operation is easy, the using amount of an initiator is small, and the reaction speed is low. The polymer has the advantages of large molecular weight, high shearing resistance and practicability.
