Reference calibration of metrology instrument

A metrology instrument is calibrated using two reference locations with different optical properties designed to produce different measurement results, e.g., different thicknesses. The metrology instrument, for example, may be an ellipsometer with a variable phase retarder. By comparing initial measurements of the two reference locations with later measurements of the two reference locations, the amount of calibration error can be easily determined. In addition, an ellipsometer having a spatially or temporally variable phase retarder may also be calibrated with a single reference location.

Method and apparatus for performing benefit transactions using a portable intergrated circuit device

InactiveUS20060157557A1Improve security levelAdvantages in both the security of the account and in ease-of-useAcutation objectsCash registersSoftware engineeringSmart card
A portable electronic data storage / processing device, e.g., smart card maintains an account including benefit packages. Each benefit package includes multiple items with associated quantity information. A smart card includes an account benefits interface and a retailer interface, each interface using different security measures. New benefit packages are added to the smart card through the account benefit interface by a benefit provider. Benefits debit request lists including multiple items and associated quantities are submitted to the smart card through the retailer interface. The smart card is the trusted member and checks if all requested items in quantities requested can be debited. If all requests can be fulfilled, the smart card executes the debiting from the currently valid benefit package and returns a transaction success indication to the retailer. If any of the requests of the list cannot be met, the entire request list is rejected and no debiting occurs. Benefit quantity addition is not possible through the retailer interface. Transactions are performed as block transactions.

Method of batching and analyzing of data from computerized process and control systems

The present invention is a solution for problems associated with batching, analyzing and viewing data from computerized and process control systems used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. Utilizing the hardware and software networking standards already implemented by a corporate IS / IT group as a platform, the present invention automatically captures (via 3rd party software), processes, archives, reports on and distributes data for any computerized equipment at a facility. Data formats for all equipment regardless of manufacturer, plant location, or hardware / software platform used, are standardized. A single data repository is provide so that any authorized user connected to the company / facility network will have the ability to query this secure data and can generate any number of different reports. Once data is collected, it is batched or grouped according to user defined rules. A batch is given a distinct number, which will then be used to identify the data. Within seconds of batching, data is automatically analyzed using process macro code. This code can be simple or complex as needed to provide only the most important details about a batch. Such analyzation eliminates the manual processing of data, which is usually complex, time-consuming and prone to error. Via the Intranet or Internet, authorized users can view or trend data and access reports including adding electronic signatures. Additional process information such as standard operating procedures, and cycle descriptions may be uploaded and attached to a batch. Any action a user performs that creates, modifies or deletes data in the data repository will be audited.

Method and Apparatus for Re-Using Memory Allocated for Data Structures Used by Software Processes

A memory management mechanism requires data structures to be explicitly deallocated in the programming code, but deallocation does not immediately make the memory available for reuse. Before a deallocated memory region can be reused, memory is scanned for pointers to the deallocated region, and any such pointer is set to null. The deallocated memory is then available for reuse. Preferably, deallocated memory regions are accumulated, and an asynchronous memory cleaning process periodically scans memory to nullify the pointers. In order to prevent previously scanned memory becoming contaminated with a dangling pointer before the scan is finished, any write to a pointer is checked to verify that the applicable target address has not been deallocated.

Phasing of heterozygous loci to determine genomic haplotypes

Haplotypes of one or more portions of a chromosome of an organism from sequencing information of DNA or RNA fragments can be determined. Heterozygous loci (hets) can be used to determine haplotypes. One allele on a first het can be connected (likely to be on the same haplotype) to an allele on a second het, thereby defining a particular orientation between the hets. Haplotypes can be assembled through these connections. Errors can be identified through redundant connection information, particularly using a confidence value (strength) for a particular connection. The connections among a set of hets can be analyzed to determine likely haplotypes for that set, e.g., an optimal tree of a graph containing the hets. Furthermore, haplotypes of different contiguous sections (contig) of the chromosome can be matched to a particular chromosome copy (e.g., to a particular parental copy). Thus, the phase of an entire chromosome can be determined.

Analyzing genome sequencing information to determine likelihood of co-segregating alleles on haplotypes

Sequencing information is used to correlate alleles at certain locations to alleles at other locations. The statistical information from the reads of fragments in a sample can be used to determine the phasing of haplotypes and to correct or confirm based calls at the locations. In one example, a confidence value (strength score) is determined for a particular hypothesis, which can include whether two alleles are on a same haplotype at two particular loci, as well as what the alleles are on another haplotype (e.g. for a diploid organism). The strength can include a positive contribution from data that is consistent with the hypothesis and a negative contribution from data is that inconsistent with the hypothesis, where both values can be used in a formula to determine the strength.

Dynamic checking method of intelligent substation IED (intelligent electronic device) model configuration correctness based on SCD (security coding device) files

The invention discloses a dynamic checking method of intelligent substation IED (intelligent electronic device) model configuration correctness based on SCD (security coding device) files. The dynamic checking method is adaptable to a digital substation or an intelligent substation communicated under IEC61850. The dynamic checking method includes firstly extracting relative IED model information to be detected from the SCD files, then mapping the relative IED model information to be detected into MMS (multimedia messaging service) named variables, and storing the MMS named variables as a data file 1; then communicating with the IED to be detected in a client terminal mode, reading information of each layer of the IED to be detected online through ACSI (abstract communication service interface) model reading service, and storing the information as a data file 2; and finally comparing the model information of the data file 1 to that of the data file 2 to determine whether the model information is identical or not. The dynamic checking method has the advantages that downloaded CID (character identifier) files in the intelligent substation IED and the SCD file information are checked automatically to determine whether the information is identical or not.
