An air conditioning cooling apparatus and method which includes the steps of supplying cooling air generated from a cooling apparatus into an air passageway formed below a floor; guiding the cooling air within the air passageway into an equipment assembly disposed on the floor through an opening located in the floor; communicating the cooling air introduced into the equipment assembly into a plenum and introducing the air released from within the equipment into the plenum and communicating the released air through the cooling apparatus for cooling the released air. The method permits temperature differential between the air supplied to the air passageway and the air introduced into the plenum from the equipment assembly to be 45.degree. F. to substantially 40.degree. F. so as to reduce the power necessary for operating on the fan of the blowing apparatus. The equipment assembly utilizes an air flow control mechanism so as to substantially evenly distribute cooling air to the equipment.

Method and system for automatically optimizing zone duct damper positions

A control is functional to perform a method of determining a maximum desired airflow for each of a plurality of zones in a multi-zone HVAC system, and an expected airflow to those zones. In part, these determinations are based upon an algorithm that calculates the relative size of the ducts leading to each of the zones. The expected and maximum airflows are compared for each of the zones, and if any zone has an expected airflow that exceeds its maximum airflow, certain steps are taken to reduce airflow to that zone.

Method and apparatus for mixing fluids

The invention relates in general to methods of controlled mixing one fluid with another. In particular it relates to a distributed direct fluid contactor including arrays of streamlined perforated tubes distributed across a flow to efficiently contact and mix one or more fluids flowing through one or more tubes with a second fluid flowing across those tubes. These distributed contactors thereby mix the fluids in a fairly uniform fashion causing a prescribed uniformity or variation in the ratio of the first to second fluid across the space. This thereby to generally creates and controls the physical and / or chemical changes in those fluids, including evaporation, condensation, forming powders and conducting chemical reactions including combustion.

Recirculating air mixer and fan with lateral air flow

An air circulation and mixing device is disclosed which can cover a ceiling air ventilation duct, taking air discharged from the duct and drawing air at the room's ceiling, mixing the two, and redirecting the mixed air so that it is discharged radially and parallel to the ceiling, rather than directly downwardly. The device has an open frame whose sides may be covered with removable air filtration media and which forms a primary interior having a lower aperture and normally an upper aperture. An open-sided grille below the lower aperture forms a secondary space. A fan is mounted within the primary space and turns blades within the lower aperture and a disk at the bottom of the secondary space. An annular plate surrounding the fan housing blocks downward flow of incoming air and forces the air to flow radially outwardly around the edge of the plate, thus also insuring good mixing with the incoming ceiling air. The rotating disk receives air blown downwardly through the lower aperture and redirects it radially outwardly through the openings in the side of the grille, such that airflow becomes horizontal and parallel to the ceiling, so that the air flow slows and the air becomes gradually dispersed throughout the entire room. The device can also be mounted over a through-wall air duct outlet by using a duct extension.
