Reusable Medical Device with Advanced Counting Capability

An electrosurgical instrument including a housing assembly having a first disposable treatment portion selectively attached thereto. The disposable treatment portion is adapted to connect to an electrosurgical generator that supplies energy to the electrosurgical instrument. A control circuit is included and disposed in electrical communication between the electrosurgical generator and the first disposable treatment portion. The control circuit is selectively actuatable to enable the flow of electrosurgical energy from the electrosurgical generator to the first disposable treatment portion. An indicator, coupled to the housing assembly or the first disposable treatment portion, is configured to indicate a parameter related to the use of the electrosurgical instrument. The control circuit is configured to prevent activation of the electrosurgical instrument when the parameter of the indicator indicates the useful life of the disposable treatment portion has expired.

Device for detachably linking a wiper blade with a wiper arm

A device is proposed which is used to detachably connect a wiper blade (12) to clean windows, particularly of motor vehicles, to a driven wiper arm (10) featuring a wiper blade holder (50 or 150), whereby the wiper blade (12) that can be placed on the window (20) with a long-stretched-out, rubber elastic wiper strip (18) features a band-like, long-stretched-out elastic supporting element (16) that is curved in the longitudinal direction over its band surfaces (15, 17) on whose lower, concave band surface (17) the wiper strip (18) is arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis. On the outer convex band surface (15) of the supporting element (16) sits a connecting element (26), which features two parallel wall surfaces (36) that are aligned in a vertical plane on the band surface and extend in the longitudinal direction of the wiper blade and that a pivot pin (42) projects from each wall surface, whereby the longitudinal axes of the two pivot pins are aligned with one another. An especially simple embodiment of the articulated connection with an integrated connecting device is achieved if an adapter (66 or 166) that can move in a pendulum fashion is positioned on the two pivot pins of the connecting element (26), and said adapter features means to connect to the wiper blade holder (50 or 150) of the wiper arm (10).

Object location system

An object locator device is disclosed for use in conjunction with both a GPS satellite system and a two-way communication satellite. The object locating system includes a mobile unit physically connected to the object to be located. The mobile unit includes a satellite communication transceiver capable of receiving and transmitting encoded signals. A decoder is associated with the satellite communication transceiver for decoding a unique signal associated with that mobile unit and for generating an activation signal upon receipt of the unique signal. The mobile unit further includes a GPS receiver which is activated in response to the receipt of the unique signal so that the GPS receiver generates a position signal representative of the position of the mobile unit. The output signal from the GPS receiver is connected as an input signal to the satellite communication transceiver such that the satellite communication transceiver transmits the.position signal to a base station on the communication satellite. The base station physically separated from the remote unit is operable to both transmit the unique signal to the communication satellite in order to activate the mobile unit as well as for receiving the position signal from the communication satellite following activation. The base station creates a display representative of the location of the mobile unit. Preferably, this display signal is transmitted via a telephone line and modem to a computer which generates the display on a computer monitor. Energy conservation algorithms including periodic activation of the satellite communication transceiver as well as activation of the satellite communication transceiver only when the position of the mobile unit has changed more than a threshold amount between periodic signals is disclosed.
