Atherectomy catheter with laterally-displaceable tip

ActiveUS20110004107A1Maximize cut tissue cross-sectional areaDepth is minimizedCannulasCatheterBody axisGear drive
Described herein are atherectomy catheters, systems and methods that include a distal tip region that may be moved laterally so that its long axis is parallel with the long axis of the main catheter body axis. Displacing the distal tip region laterally out of the main catheter body axis exposes an annular blade and opens a passageway for cut tissue to enter a storage region within the catheter. The annular blade may be internally coupled to a drive shaft that rotates the blade, and thus the exposed blade edge may have the same crossing profile (OD) as the rest of the distal end region of the catheter. Also described herein are gear-driven atherectomy devices that may use a cable drive shaft to actuate the annular blade. Both push-to-cut and pull-to-cut variations are described, as are methods for cutting tissue and systems including these atherectomy catheters.

Method of controlling a dual clutch transmission

InactiveUS6887184B2Improving overall drivability and comfortClutchesDigital data processing detailsGear driveTorque transmission
A method of controlling the clutches of a dual clutch transmission during a two-gear positive downshift, wherein the first clutch drives an initial gear and the final gear and the second clutch drives an intermediate gear. The torque transfer across each clutch is controlled so that the torque output of the transmission will be linearly changed over from the first clutch to the second clutch to cause the engine to track a target engine speed profile. The method changes over the gears driven by the first clutch from the initial gear to the final gear as the engine continues to tracks the target speed. The torque transfer across each clutch is controlled so that the torque output will be linearly changed back from the second clutch to the first clutch in an inversely proportional rate to continue to cause the engine to track the target engine speed profile.

Adjustable Bolster Swing Legs for Mounting and Aligning and Reorienting Crawlers for Slipform Paving Machines

A paving machine which is configured to move in a paving direction for spreading, leveling and finishing concrete into a form having a generally upwardly exposed, finished concrete surface and terminating in lateral concrete sides. The paving machine has a main frame, including a center module, bolsters laterally movably connected to respective lateral sides of the center module for changing a spacing between the bolsters, and a crawler track associated with respective aft and forward ends of the bolsters. A bolster swing leg for each crawler track supports an upright jacking column secured to the swing leg proximate a free end thereof. A worm gear drive between the jacking column and the crawler track permits rotational movements of the crawler track and the jacking column about an upright axis. A hinge bracket is interposed between each swing leg and an associated surface of the bolsters and includes a fixed, upright pivot shaft that pivotally engages the swing leg to enable pivotal movements of the swing leg about an upright axis in a substantially horizontal plane. The hinge bracket further includes a pivot pin that is laterally spaced from and fixed in relation to the pivot shaft. A length-adjustable holder capable of being held at a fixed length has a first end pivotally engaging the pivot pin on the hinge bracket and a second end that pivotally engages the swing leg. The holder permits pivotal motions of the swing leg about the hinge pin when it is in its length-adjustable configuration and prevents substantially any motion of the swing leg when the holder is in its fixed-length configuration. A feedback loop cooperates with angular position transducers and automatically keeps the crawler tracks oriented in the paving direction of the machine when the swing legs move in a horizontal plane relative to a remainder of the paving machine. The paving machine can be reconfigured between its paving orientation and a road transport orientation by activating the crawlers to move the swing legs and the crawlers into a narrowed transport configuration.

Automatic speed change mechanism for dual-motor clutch-free blade electric vehicle

The invention discloses an automatic speed change mechanism for a dual-motor clutch-free blade electric vehicle. The automatic speed change mechanism comprises a first input shaft, a second input shaft and an output shaft which are arranged in parallel. A first-gear driving gear, a first synchronizer and a third-gear driving gear are arranged on the first input shaft. A second-gear driving gear, a second synchronizer and a fourth-gear driving gear are arranged on the second input shaft. A first-gear driven gear meshed with the first-gear driving gear, a second-gear driven gear meshed with the second-gear driving gear, a third-gear driven gear meshed with the third-gear driving gear and a fourth-gear driven gear meshed with the fourth-gear driving gear are arranged on the output shaft. The automatic speed change mechanism removes a clutch, the structure of the whole mechanism is simplified, and the manufacturing cost is low. By means of dual-motor driving and controlling the synchronizers and driving motors to achieve gear shifting without power failure, the power switching smoothness is good. When any driving motor breaks down, the other driving motor can work continuously to drive the vehicle to run. Thus, the system reliability is high.

Inter-axle differential lock shift mechanism

InactiveUS7211017B2Reducing space and material requirementLow production costFluid actuated clutchesGear lubrication/coolingGear driveEngineering
An improved inter-axle differential locking clutch is provided that aligns the actuator and the clutch member thereby reducing space and material requirements in the axle assembly housing. The clutch also eliminates the need for a pushrod and shift fork thereby reducing tooling and production costs, as well as eliminating issues associated with misalignment of the piston and pushrod, relative rotation of the shift fork and clutch member, and tipping of the shift fork. The clutch includes one or more pistons disposed within either the axle housing or a carrier supporting the input shaft bearing. Fluid pressure actuates the pistons against a clutch member causing selective engagement between the clutch member and either a side gear driven by the inter-axle differential or a differential case housing the differential gears of the inter-axle differential.

Pool cover drive mechanism

An apparatus for retracting a pool cover from over a pool, or extending a pool cover over a pool, includes a pool cover collecting drum supported for rotation on its ends, and a drive gear connected to the drum. A power gear for engaging the drive gear is operably connected to a portable, battery operated electric drill by a power shaft. When the drill is activated, the drive gear rotates the pool cover collecting drum to collect and retract the pool cover from over the pool. The pool cover is placed back over the pool by operation of a complementary apparatus on the opposite side of the pool, such as a rope spool collecting apparatus having an engageable drive gear. The gear-driven spool pulls on a rope attached to a rigid end or carrier of the pool cover. As the pool cover is extended and retracted it slides in a track, allowing the cover to serve as a safety cover. The gears may be located in a sealed housing filled with lubricant. The drive shaft may include a universal joint, and the drill may be designed to engage the power shaft with a flexible socket adapter.
