Methods of handling coverage within a wireless communications system

A first pilot signal is transmitted at a first frequency for a first coverage area (e.g., an outdoor area). A second pilot signal is transmitted at a second frequency for a second coverage area (e.g., an indoor area). The first pilot signal at the second frequency is transmitted into a portion of the second coverage area, the second coverage area at least overlapping with the first coverage area. Further, the first pilot signal is transmitted at the second frequency in the second coverage area. In an example, the first pilot signal at the first frequency is transmitted from an outdoor base station, the second pilot signal at the second frequency is transmitted by an indoor base station, the first pilot signal at the second frequency is transmitted into the second coverage area (e.g., an interior of a building from a building exit point) by an antenna (e.g., not necessarily at a base station) and the second pilot signal at the first frequency is transmitted by the indoor base station. The pilot signal configuration discussed above may facilitate call handoffs between the first and second coverage areas. For example, if the first coverage area is an outdoor area and the second coverage area is a building interior, the example pilot signal configuration may reduce pilot pollution.

A novel basic allergen / particulate data collection device and a novel multi-function personal air quality management device are disclosed. Both devices include sensor sub-assembly detecting and reporting on allergen / particulate data (preferably, for allergen / particulate with sizes smaller than 5 micron) for an indoor location (where the asthma patient is situated). Both devices are communication enabled to allow the allergen / particulate data to be provided to an air / asthma advice server, to generate air / asthma advice for an asthma patient, taking into consideration the allergen / particulate data as well as air quality data for a surrounding outdoor area of the indoor location. In one embodiment of the basic device, the communication interface is tailored for “harsh environment” local area networking. When combined with its streamlined functionality, the device is particularly suitable (especially in terms of economics) for multiple deployment (along with a “base station”), such as in the case of an home application. In one embodiment of the multi-function device, the communication interface is tailored for “controlled environment” wide area networking. When combined with its rich functionality, the device is particularly suitable for standalone deployment, such as in the case of a professional application. Various alterations and modifications of different embodiments are also disclosed.

The invention further discloses a monitoring method for using the railway subgrade subsidence monitoring system. According to the monitoring system and method, large-scale cruise type railway subgrade subsidence monitoring is achieved, the problems that railway subgrade deep subsidence is difficult to monitor and monitoring needs to span super-long railway lines are solved, and the requirements for all-weather operations are met under severe environments such as outdoor areas, waste mountains, plateaus and alpine regions.

Movable building and means therefor

A full size building having three walls, an open side and a roof but no floor can be moved along parallel rails from an open free standing position to a closed position where the building abuts another structure to completely enclose an outdoor area. The building is of conventional construction but is erected over a rigid framework of iron beams. A series of roller assemblies containing rotatable axles is attached to the underside of rigid framework. The axles rest directly on the rails and rotate smoothly by means of bearings as the building moves along the rails. Stabilizers prevent wobble and keep the building on the rails when it is being moved. Locks prevent any movement when the building is in either the open or closed position. Additional locking means prevent lateral movement when the building is locked in the open position. The building can be moved using a winch and cable system or using a unique suspended sprocket wheel and track system. Concrete footings form the base for the rails. Hinged panels along the lower portion of the inside and outside of the three walls conceal the roller assemblies and stabilizers and close any space between the walls and the ground below them. The hinges enable the panels to be raised when the building is being moved. The abutting structure can be a stationary wall, an exterior wall of a stationary building, or another movable building.
