Since magnetic fields penetrate all non-magnetisable materials, the sensors can detect magnets through walls made of stainless steel, aluminium, plastic or wood.

Current Measuring Apparatus

The present invention provides a current measuring apparatus having an improved structure to inhibit the possible adverse effect of a current in a different phase and the possible generation of an induced electromotive force caused by a measurement target current, enabling the measurement target current to be accurately detected even with the small size of the apparatus. The current measuring apparatus includes a printed circuit board 1 having Hall elements 2a, 2b and a signal processing integrated circuit 3 mounted thereon, the Hall elements 2a, 2b sensing a magnetic field generated by a current flowing through a current measurement target bus bar 4a, the signal processing integrated circuit 3 processing sensing outputs from the Hall elements 2a, 2b to calculate a value for the current flowing through the bus bar 4a. Magnetic sensing surfaces of the Hall elements 2a, 2b are arranged substantially perpendicularly to the direction of the magnetic field generated by the current flowing through the bus bar 4a. Further, the printed circuit board 1 is fixed to the bus bar 4a so that a circuit board surface of the printed circuit board 1 having a wire electrically connecting the Hall elements 2a, 2b to the signal processing integrated circuit 3 is positioned substantially parallel to the direction of the magnetic field.

The battery charging pad comprises a moving mechanism 13 that moves the transmitting coil 11, and a position detection controller 14 that detects the position of a device housing a battery 50 and controls the moving mechanism to move the transmitting coil in close proximity to a receiving coil 51. Pulse signals are supplied to a plurality of position detection coils 30 from a pulse generator 31, and the echo signals are a result of coil excitation by the pulse signals. The battery charging pad position detection controller 14 detects the position of the receiving coil 51 and moves the transmitting coil 11 in close proximity to the receiving coil 51, and the position detection controller 14 detects the position of the transmitting coil 11 and moves the transmitting coil 11 to the reference position, or it moves the transmitting coil 11 in close proximity to the receiving coil 51.

Micromachined magnetic field sensors

A micromachined magnetic field sensor integrated with electronics is disclosed. The magnetic field sensors utilize Hall-effect sensing mechanisms to achieve 3-axis sensing. A Z axis sensor can be fabricated either on a device layer or on a conventional IC substrate with the design of conventional horizontal Hall plates. An X and Y axis sensor are constructed on the device layer. In some embodiments, a magnetic flux concentrator is applied to enhance the performance of the magnetic field sensor. In some embodiments, the magnetic field sensors are placed on slope sidewalls to achieve 3-axis magnetic sensing system. In some embodiments, a stress isolation structure is incorporated to lower the sensor offset. The conventional IC substrate and device layer are connected electrically to form a 3-axis magnetic sensing system. The magnetic field sensor can also be integrated with motion sensors that are constructed in the similar technology.

A rotating control drilling device includes an upper sealing element and a lower sealing element positioned around a drillstring and forming a chamber therebetween and a leak detection device. The leak detection device includes a piston in communication with the chamber, a magnet disc disposed on an end of the piston, and a plurality of magnetic sensors arranged in a magnetic sensing ring around the rotating control drilling device. Upon reaching a selected critical pressure in the chamber, a spring is configured to compress as the magnet disc is positioned proximate to the plurality of magnetic sensors. Furthermore, a method to detect leaks in a rotating control device includes positioning a leak detection device in communication with a chamber located between upper and lower sealing elements and signaling with the leak detection device when a pressure of the chamber exceeds a selected critical pressure.
