In-network processing is a technique employed in sensor database systems whereby the data recorded is processed by the sensor nodes themselves. This is in contrast to the standard approach, which demands that data is routed to a so-called sink computer located outside the sensor network for processing.

Multi-dimensional computation distribution in a packet processing device having multiple processing architecture

Flow-aware task distribution in network devices having multiple processor architectures. In one embodiment, the present invention can be used for high bandwidth network processing in an application and flow aware Quality of Service (QoS) network device. In some implementations, the present invention provides a task distribution architecture capable of flow state awareness and link level QoS control. In some implementations, the present invention can incorporate one or more processes, such as flow distributors and device distributors, that route packets for processing among different processing units on the basis flow correspondence and / or link or network path attributes. The flow and device distributors, in one implementation, allow for the separation and paralletization of packet processing functionality into flow-specific and link-specific processing units, allowing for a highly-scalable, flow-aware task distribution in a network device that processes network application traffic.

Method and apparatus for operating the internet protocol over a high-speed serial bus

InactiveUS6219697B1Efficiently and correctly determineDigital computer detailsTransmissionInternet protocol suiteTransport layer
A method and apparatus of integrating the IEEE 1394 protocol with the IP protocol in which the IEEE 1394 high speed serial bus operates as the physical and link layer medium and the IP operates as the transport layer. There are differences in the protocols which require special consideration when integrating the two protocols. The IEEE 1394 configures packets with memory information and the IP operates under channel based I / O thereby necessitating a modification of the data transfer scheme to accomplish IP transfers over the IEEE 1394. Further, due to differences in packet headers, the IEEE 1394 packet header is modified to encapsulate IP packets. Moreover, in order to determine network packets quickly and efficiently, an identifier is inserted in each network packet header indicating that the packet should be processed by the network. Finally, in order to support the ability to insert or remove nodes on the network without a loss of data, the IP interface must not be disturbed. This is accomplished by maintaining constant IP addresses across bus resets which are caused by insertion or removal of nodes from the network.

Double recognizing method by means of telephone number and identification code for online credit card transactions over the internet

The present invention relates to a “double recognizing method by means of telephone number and identification code for online credit card transactions over the internet,” in which the credit card holder not only registers a “self-chosen code” by himself / herself for VBV (Verified By VISA) or MSC (MasterCard SecureCode) network identity verification but also registers another set of “telephone number and identification code” by himself / herself for serving as an exclusive personal double identity recognizing information for online credit card transactions. The credit card issuing bank registers and stores the set of “telephone number and identification code” on a double recognizing database after checking truth of the related identity certificate provided by the credit card holder. When the credit card issuing bank handles the online credit card transaction of the credit card holder over the network, the credit card issuing bank not only proceeds the check on the “self-chosen code” used in the original VBV or MSC verification system but also performs the double check on the “telephone number and identification code” used in the telecommunications transceiving processor platform of the internal credit card double recognizing computer system, for example by sending out a short message to the credit card holder for requesting him / her to immediately reply by another short message to his / her “telephone number and identification code.”

Packet processing for logical datapath sets

Some embodiments provide a method that processes network data through a network. The method receives a packet destined for a network host associated with a logical datapath set implemented by a set of managed edge switching elements and a set of managed non-edge switching elements in the network. The method determines whether the packet is a known packet. When the packet is a known packet, the method forwards the packet to a managed switching element in the set of managed edge switching elements for forwarding to the network host. When the packet is not a known packet, the method forwards the packet to a managed switching element in the set of managed non-edge switching elements for further processing.

Apparatus and methods for synaptic update in a pulse-coded network

Apparatus and methods for efficient synaptic update in a network such as a spiking neural network. In one embodiment, the post-synaptic updates, in response to generation of a post-synaptic pulse by a post-synaptic unit, are delayed until a subsequent pre-synaptic pulse is received by the unit. Pre-synaptic updates are performed first following by the post-synaptic update, thus ensuring synaptic connection status is up-to-date. The delay update mechanism is used in conjunction with system “flush” events in order to ensure accurate network operation, and prevent loss of information under a variety of pre-synaptic and post-synaptic unit firing rates. A large network partition mechanism is used in one variant with network processing apparatus in order to enable processing of network signals in a limited functionality embedded hardware environment.

System and method for distributed computation based upon the movement, execution, and interaction of processes in a network

A distributed computing environment in which agent processes direct their own movement through a computer network. Place processes provide a computing context within which agent processes are interpreted. An agent process controls its movement from one place process to another within the network by using a ticket. An agent process which moves from one place process to another transports definitions of classes of which objects included in the agent process are members. An agent process which moves from one place process to a second place process avoids unnecessary transportation of objects included in the agent process by substituting equivalent objects which are found in the second place process. An agent process sends clones of the agent process to several place processes simultaneously. If two clones travel along paths which are coextensive for an initial portion thereof, a single clone is transported along the initial portion of the paths and other clones are formed from the single clone, thereby avoiding transferring redundant information along communications media. Two agent processes, which occupy a single place process, interact by exchanging references to one another. The single place process ensures that neither agent process receives a reference to the other agent process without simultaneously giving to the other agent process a reference to the former agent process. Unauthorized or inadvertent excessive use of network resources by an agent process, or a place process, is prevented by associating with each process a permit which defines various capabilities and resource allowances of the process.

Systems and Methods for Bridging a WAN Accelerator with a Security Gateway

The solution described herein provides systems and methods for the interoperability of network processing programs that process network packets at different levels of the network stack. This solution bridges the communications of a network packet between a first network processing program operating at a first level of a network stack in an intermediary and a second network processing program operating at a second level of the network stack of the intermediary. The first network processing program may modify an incoming network packet so that the packet may traverse the network stack to an upper level of the stack to the second network processing program. After processing the network packet at the upper layers of the stack or by the second network processing program, the first network processing program modifies the network pack in order to transmit the packet to the intended destination while traversing the intermediary.

Mobile station loop-back signal processing

Processing of loop-back information returned by one or more mobile stations that are served by a wireless communication network permits the network to compensate its transmit signals for increased transmission efficiency and reduced signal interference at the mobile stations. Generally, the network forms one or more transmit signals as a combination of different signals intended for the different mobile stations, and remembers transmit information associated with these transmit signals. The mobile stations return loop-back signals to the network, which determines transmit signal compensation information by comparing loop-back information to memorized information. The mobile stations may loop-back samples from composite received signals, from processed received signal samples, or loop-back estimates. In the first case, processing at the network involves compensating the combined transmit signals at the transmit modulation rate, while the second case involves symbol rate processing of the individual information streams intended for the different mobile stations.
