Handling of malware scanning of files stored within a file storage device of a computer network

The present invention provides a load balancing device, computer program product, and method for balancing the load across a plurality of proxy devices arranged to perform malware scanning of files stored within a file storage device of a computer network. The computer network has a plurality of client devices arranged to issue access requests using a dedicated file access protocol to the file storage device in order to access files stored on the file storage device. The load balancing device is arranged so as to intercept access requests issued to the file storage device, and comprises a client interface for receiving an access request issued to the file storage device using the dedicated file access protocol. Further, the load balancing device comprises load balancing logic for applying a predetermined load balancing routine to determine to which proxy device to direct the received access request, and a proxy device interface for sending the access request to the proxy device determined by the load balancing logic, each proxy device being coupled to the file storage device. This enables a very efficient system to be developed for performing malware scanning of files stored within the file storage device, whilst enabling that system to be developed independently of the particular file storage device being used in the computer network, or the operating system being run on that file storage device.

Method and apparatus for dynamic proxy insertion in network traffic flow

In embodiments of the invention, a method and apparatus for dynamic proxy insertion in network traffic path is described. According to one or more embodiments of the invention, a request and / or response message may be modified to include one or more thru-proxy tags to identify a network (or traffic) node (e.g., a proxy, server, or intermediary). For example, a request directed to a server or a response directed to a client may be altered to insert a plurality of intermediate or final destination designations. In so doing, a path of a request or response may be altered dynamically. A thru-proxy tag in a response may be inserted in a related request to identify a destination or node such that the request is sent to the destination in the thru-proxy tag before being sent to an origin server. Thru-proxy tags may be used to identify multiple and / or alternate destinations.

Message and arrangement for provding different services in a multimedia communication system

In current multimedia communication systems using session initiation protocols such as SIP, a service change (e.g. adding a new media type to an existing multimedia conversation) entails significant delays and processor load in both clients and server. The current invention solves this by separating session signaling and media control signaling in different signaling channels (141,142) and by eliminating the need to re-establish SIP sessions for each service change. The application server (120) maintains a list of all media types supported by each multimedia client (110) involved in a multimedia conversation. Each multimedia client (110) requesting to send one or several media streams with different media types to one or several other multimedia client(s) negotiates with the application server (120) only. The inventive concept significantly reduces networks delays and speeds up the service change as perceived by the user. The invention is of interest for various multimedia conferencing applications.

System and method for automatically changing user data

A system automatically changes the user data such as e-mail address registered in reception designation lists used in a reception designation service according to notification of user data change. Reception designation service lists are provided for storing user data of each of users of a reception designation service. A first server has a capability of sending a notification of user data change according to a request from a terminal device of a user, the notification containing a change from a former user data to a new one. A second server has a capability of receiving the notification and changing the former user data to the new one in a corresponding one of the lists to the terminal device according to the notification. When the corresponding one of the lists is set to be changeable, the second server changes automatically the former user data to the new one in the corresponding one of the lists.

Data buffering system with load balancing function

The invention provides a data buffering system comprising a data buffering manager, a data buffering library and a load balancing processor, wherein the data buffering manager receives a data acquiring request from outside, and responds to the data acquiring request to send a data acquiring command to the data buffering library to judge if the data buffering library preserves corresponding data, if the data buffering library preserves the corresponding data, the data buffering manager gets the corresponding data back, and if the data buffering library does not preserve the corresponding data, the data buffering manager sends a database server acquiring request to the load balancing processor; the data buffering library responds to a data storage command to store data which need to be buffered in blocks and pages and also responds to the data acquiring command to send the corresponding data to the data buffering manager; the load balancing processor responds to the database server acquiring request to provide a database server which processes fewest request to the data buffering manager, and the load balancing processor acquires data and returns the data to be stored into the data buffering library according to the information of the database server. The invention enhances the memory utilization factor, reduces the interactive communication capacity, decreases the using inquiry times and the magnetic disc access times and enhances the system stability and the system operation efficiency.
