339 results about "DBc" patented technology

DBc (decibels relative to the carrier) is the power ratio of a signal to a carrier signal, expressed in decibels. For example, phase noise is expressed in dBc/Hz at a given frequency offset from the carrier. dBc can also be used as a measurement of Spurious-Free Dynamic Range (SFDR) between the desired signal and unwanted spurious outputs resulting from the use of signal converters such as a digital-to-analog converter or a frequency mixer.

Temporal anomaly detection on automotive networks

An anomaly detector for a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus performs state space classification on a per-message basis of messages on the CAN bus to label messages as normal or anomalous, and performs temporal pattern analysis as a function of time to label unexpected temporal patterns as anomalous. The anomaly detector issues an alert if an alert criterion is met that is based on the outputs of the state space classification and the temporal pattern analysis. The temporal pattern analysis may compare statistics of messages having analyzed arbitration IDs with statistics for messages having those analyzed arbitration IDs in a training dataset of CAN bus messages, and a temporal pattern is anomalous if there is a statistically significant deviation from the training dataset. The anomaly detector may be implemented on a vehicle Electronic Control Unit (ECU) communicating via a vehicle CAN bus. The anomaly detector does not rely on an database of messages and their periodicity from manufacturers (dbc files) and in that sense is truly a zero knowledge detector.

High frequency low noise phase-frequency detector and phase noise reduction method and apparatus

The present invention discloses a new type of extremely low-noise phase-frequency detector (PFD) 500, broadband from DC to multi-GHz RF frequencies for PLL synthesizer applications. Free of any feedback mechanisms, thus inherently fast, it operates close to transition frequency fT of IC processes or frequency limits of discrete mixers. The PFD 500 utilizes complex SSB conversion in both the in-phase and quadrature arms, delaying the in-phase arm in 530, beating the delayed signal 124 with the un-delayed quadrature signal 122 in mixer 126. The output 128 contains both the frequency difference and the phase difference information between the two signals 118 and 520, providing both the frequency-discrimination (FD) and the phase detection (PD) functions. Utilizing standard mixers the PFD 500 can achieve superior CNRs of 180 dBc / Hz at multi-GHz RF. Additionally, utilizing the FD / FM demodulation capability, the present invention improves phase noise of various signals and linearity of FM modulators.

Broadband switching system

In a broadband switching system for the switching of asynchronously transferred cells of data, a dynamic bandwidth controller (DBC) controls the application of data cells to an input port of the system. Data cells are supplied by a number of transmitting end-systems. When an end-system begins transmitting data cells, the DBC detects the presence of incoming cells and requests bandwidth from a connection admission control (CAC) forming part of the system. The switching system stores a table associating a number of signal sources connected to the ingress with respective predetermined transmission bandwidths and, preferably also, maximum delay times. When arrival of cells from one of the sources at the input port is detected, the DBC sends a request signal for the relevant predetermined bandwidth to the CAC and delays transmission of the cells until at least the predetermined bandwidth is allocated. This delay is typically effected by sending a cell rate indicator signal back to the input port for placing the source in a halt mode. If no allocation of bandwidth has occurred before the respective maximum delay time, bandwidth is allocated by robbing bandwidth form other signal sources.

Anomaly detection for vehicular networks for intrusion and malfunction detection

A security monitoring system for a Controller Area Network (CAN) comprises an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) operatively connected to the CAN bus. The ECU is programmed to classify a message read from the CAN bus as either normal or anomalous using an SVM-based classifier with a Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel. The classifying includes computing a hyperplane curvature parameter γ of the RBF kernel as γ=ƒ(D) where ƒ( ) denotes a function and D denotes CAN bus message density as a function of time. In some such embodiments γ=ƒ(Var(D)) where Var(D) denotes the variance of the CAN bus message density as a function of time. The security monitoring system may be installed in a vehicle (e.g. automobile, truck, watercraft, aircraft) including a vehicle CAN bus, with the ECU operatively connected to the vehicle CAN bus to read messages communicated on the CAN bus. By not relying on any proprietary knowledge of arbitration IDs from manufacturers through their dbc files, this anomaly detector truly functions as a zero knowledge detector.

60 GHz Frequency Generator Incorporating Third Harmonic Boost And Extraction

A novel and useful 60 GHz frequency generator based on a third harmonic extraction technique which improves system level efficiency and performance. The frequency generator employs a third harmonic boosting technique to increase the third harmonic at the output of the oscillator. The oscillator generates both ˜20 GHz fundamental and a significant amount of the third harmonic at ˜60 GHz and avoids the need for a frequency divider operating at 60 GHz. The undesired fundamental harmonic at ˜20 GHz is rejected by the good fundamental HRR inherent in the oscillator buffer stage while the ˜60 GHz component is amplified to the output. The fundamental harmonic is further suppressed by an active cancellation by properly combining the two outputs. The oscillator fabricated in 40 nm CMOS exhibits a phase noise of −100 dBc / Hz at 1 MHz offset from a 60 GHz carrier and have a tuning range of 25%.
