System and method of monitoring and quantifying performance of an automated manufacturing facility

The present invention is directed to a method and system for identifying, quantifying and presenting to a user constraints in an automated manufacturing or processing facility. A data processing system continuously receives basic status signals and state signals from automation equipment in the facility and evaluates and processes these signals to derive a throughput capability measure (a measure of constraint) of each given manufacturing workstation in the process. The throughput capability measure is expressed as a ratio of an ideal cycle time to an accumulated overcycled time. The accumulated overcycled time includes only delays and excludes any speed-up of a workstation. A constraint is identified as the workstation that has the lowest throughput capability measure as compared with all other workstations in a production line. Preferably, throughput capability measures for all workstations are presented to users graphically. Further drill-down can be provided for obtaining more detailed information about the constraint and capacity loss as well as entering information relevant to the constraint, such as a stoppage or slow-down.

An energy efficient oxygen concentrator in which a compressor applies pressurized air to at least two gas separating elements which will pass a flow of oxygen while blocking a flow of nitrogen. The gas separating elements are alternately cycled between a gas separating mode for producing oxygen enriched gas and a purge mode for purging nitrogen from the elements. According to the invention, the speed of the cycle time is increased as the oxygen enriched gas flow requirement is decreased below the maximum concentrator output. A memory interface system and method are provided for transferring data between a memory controller and an array of storage elements. The storage elements are preferably SRAM elements, and the memory interface is preferably one having separate address bus paths and separate data bus paths. One address bus path is reserved for receiving read addresses and the other address bus path is reserved for receiving write addresses. One of the data bus paths is reserved for receiving read data from the array, and the other data bus path is reserved for receiving data written to the array. While bifurcating the address and data bus paths within the interface is transparent to the memory controller, the separate paths afford addressing phases of a read and write address operation to be partially overlapped, as well as the data transfer phases. This will essentially reduce the cycle time between a read and write memory access, and proves useful when maximizing the data throughput across the data bus when implementing double data rate (QDR) mechanisms.

The refrigeration cum heating system of this invention with heat pipe in thermal contact with the adsorption modules increase the heat transfer rates without increasing the thermal mass leading to increase of COP and the single or multistage pressure equalisation increases the internal regeneration of heat thereby increasing the COP, reducing the cycle time resulting in increased specific cooling power (SCP), reducing the required quantity of adsorbent / refrigerant making the module compact and cost effective.

A dual conductance chuck has an indented region that aligns with the exhaust port of the reaction chamber to restrict process gas flow in the low conductance configuration, and that moves distal a showerhead and the exhaust port to provide reduced restriction of process gas flow for reaction chamber evacuation. The chuck includes thermal control for enhancing film deposition on the substrate and for reducing residual film deposition on the chuck. An evacuation opening in the housing provides independent evacuation of residual gas from the housing. The present invention enhance throughput of device formation by reducing purge and process cycle times.

The invention discloses a new method for predicating the residual life of a lithium-ion battery. The method comprises the following steps of sampling an experimental sample, and determining the rated capacity and rated internal resistance of a sample battery; respectively setting three influence factors, namely different ambient temperatures, discharge rates and discharge depth; measuring the increase rates of the internal resistance of the battery under influence of a single factor and two coupled factors, and establishing a correction factor database; determining three correction factors for the internal resistance of the battery by use of a curve fitting method; and collecting the constant-current charge time in real time, obtaining real-time variable battery internal resistance by use of the three correction factors and the rated internal resistance of the battery, and predicating the residual life of the battery by use of a Monte Carlo method. The method is capable of relatively accurately reflecting the variation trend of the battery capacity along with circulation times, and can also ensure the accuracy and rapidness of estimation on the residual life of lithium-ion batteries, and effectively guiding the reasonable use and maintenance work of the batteries.
