Device, system and method, in a vehicle communication system, to transmit wirelessly a message comprising the position, heading and speed of a vehicle or other moving object, wherein the transmission is repeated at regular intervals in a temporarily fixed time slot within a predetermined basic time interval. In a key embodiment the message duration is equal to or less than a predetermined time slot duration. Embodiments use generally the same time slot in a contiguous sequence of basic time intervals. Algorithms are described to resolve wireless interference within a time slot. Embodiments divide the basic time interval in multiple durations, “class regions,” for different message classes. Embodiments use different wireless bandwidth allocation algorithms for the class regions.

A system and method for guaranteeing overwrite of expired data in a media device, the data being organized according to logical units provided on media devices organized as physical volumes. The method comprises the steps of: maintaining information associated with a status of a physical volume, and updating a physical volume's status information based upon a combination of that volume's prior status and that volume's current status; specifying a time duration that expired logical unit data may remain on a physical volume; based upon the volume's updated status information, determining whether a selected volume has expired data longer than the specified time duration; and, overwriting contents of the volume having data that has expired longer than the specified time duration.

A monitor for an electric arc welder as the welder performs a selected arc welding process by creating actual welding parameters, such as arc current and arc voltage, between an advancing welding wire and a workpiece, where the process involves an arc and is defined by a series of rapidly repeating wave shapes constituting a weld cycle with a cycle time, the wave shapes are each segmented into time states having command signals corresponding to the actual parameters and a time duration. The monitor selects a specific wave shape state, reads one of the actual parameters, compares the actual read parameter with a function of the command signal corresponding to the actual parameter, and uses-the comparison to generate a characteristic of the welding process during the selected state.

The invention is related to methods and apparatus that can advantageously alter a playback rate of a multimedia presentation, such as a video clip. One embodiment of the invention permits a multimedia presentation to be sped up or slowed down with a controlled change in pitch of the sped up or slowed down audio. In one embodiment, this controlled change in the pitch permits the sped up or slowed down audio to retain a same sounding pitch as at normal playback speeds. In one embodiment, a duration is specified and playback of the video clip is advantageously sped to complete playback within the specified duration. In another embodiment, a finish by a time is specified, and the playback of the video clip is advantageously sped to complete playback by the specified time.

Apparatuses and methods selectively blank a neurological channel of a medical device system in the treatment of a nervous system disorder. A selected signal of a selected channel may be blanked if it is determined that the selected signal may be affected by an artifact when the medical device system delivers a treatment therapy. The selected signal may be blanked by hardware, in which the selected electrode is disconnected from the selected channel (which may include an selected amplifier) and is connected to a fixed voltage in order to avoid saturation of the selected amplifier. The selected channel may be blanked by software, in which a signal processor is instructed not to process neurological data on the selected channel for a determined time duration. Embodiments may combine hardware and software blanking for the selected signal.

Techniques for multiplexing and transmitting multiple data streams are described. Transmission of the multiple data streams occurs in “super-frames”. Each super-frame has a predetermined time duration and is further divided into multiple (e.g., four) frames. Each data block for each data stream is outer encoded to generate a corresponding code block. Each code block is partitioned into multiple subblocks, and each data packet in each code block is inner encoded and modulated to generate modulation symbols for the packet. Each data stream is allocated a number of transmission units in each super-frame and is assigned specific transmission units to achieve efficient packing. Exemplary methods include routing a caller from a set of callers to an agent from a set of agents based on a performance based routing and/or pattern matching algorithm(s) utilizing caller data associated with the caller and the agent data associated with the agent. For performance based routing, the performance or grading of agents may be associated with time data, e.g., a grading or ranking of agents based on time. Further, for pattern matching algorithms, one or both of the caller data and agent data may include or be associated with time effect data. Examples of time effect data include probable performance or output variables as a function of time of day, day of week, time of month, or time of year. Time effect data may also include the duration of the agent's employment.

A virtual image is registered among a perceived real world background. Tracking light is scanned into the real world environment, which includes at least one detector pair. A first time and a second time at which the tracking light impinges on the first detector is detected, in which the first time and second time occurs within adjacent scan lines. An ad scheduler prepares an ad insertion schedule based on channel change statistical information and avail time information. The scheduler evaluates the statistical information, time durations between adjacent avails in a presentation stream, and the relatedness of market segments assigned to a plurality of advertisements. It schedules the ads into presentation stream groups based on this evaluation. The statistical ad scheduling allows the system to eliminate “forced” switching between multiple presentation streams, whereby system wears and malfunctions can be decreased.

The at least one time interval for a placement opportunity may distinct from or coincident with the at least one time interval for content. The content may be entertainment content comprising at least one of video, audio, and interactive overlays. The at least one characteristic may be the duration of or the number of the at least one time interval for a placement opportunity. The list may be one of a playlist and a schedule.

The master scheduler receives, processes, and disseminates NVOD schedule-related information for end-to-end NVOD service; that is, sending video from a back-end which stores video data to a head-end for viewing by a user. The master scheduler also provides operations support for the NVOD system, such as maintaining the head-end configuration, allocating channels, performing asset management, performing content management, etc. The master scheduler provides validation of scheduling information by comparing information such as programmed schedules, asset metadata, and data obtained by measuring asset parameters, for example duration.

A plurality of graphical objects is displayed within a user interface (UI) of a display screen operable to receive touch input. The image producing electric fields and the inverse image producing electric fields are such that the cumulative time integral of the electric fields that are present in one direction across the liquid crystal material is substantially equal to the cumulative time integral of the electric fields that are present in the opposite direction during the given period of time during the operation of liquid crystal cell. The time duration of the inverse image portion is shorter than the time duration of the image portion by an amount proportional to the increased magnitude of the additional electric fields. The UE uses a non-scaled down cell reselection time limit in a non-high-speed UE state, and a scaled-down cell reselection time limit in the high-speed UE state. Thus, the UE reselects to a non-serving cell having the highest ranking continuously for the cell reselection time limit.
