Device and method for converting spatial audio signal

An audio processor for converting a multi-channel audio input signal, such as a B-format sound field signal, into a set of audio output signals, such as a set of two or more audio output signals arranged for headphone reproduction or for playback over an array of loudspeakers. A filter bank splits each of the input channels into frequency bands. The input signal is decomposed into plane waves to determine one or two dominant sound source directions. The(se) are used to determine a set of virtual loudspeaker positions selected such that the dominant direction(s) coincide(s) with virtual loudspeaker positions. The input signal is decoded into virtual loudspeaker signals corresponding to each of the virtual loudspeaker positions, and the virtual loudspeaker signals are processed with transfer functions suitable to create the illusion of sound emanating from the directions of the virtual loudspeakers. A high spatial fidelity is obtained due to the coincidence of virtual loudspeaker positions and the determined dominant sound source direction(s). Improved performance can be obtained in the case where Head-Related Transfer Functions are used by differentiating the phase of a high frequency part of the HRTFs with respect to frequency, followed by a corresponding integration of this part with respect to frequency after combining the components of HRTFs from different directions.

A method for the production of ethanol and a modified animal feed is provided. The method replaces the starch in known corn-based animal feed with biomass fiber treated to make it more digestible by animals. The process includes wherein the pericarp and germ are removed from the corn kernel and processed for by-products. The starch and protein are also removed and separated. The starch is then fermented and distilled to ethanol and stillage. The bioavailable modified animal feed comprises the pericarp and germ removed from corn kernels and optionally by-products of the pericarp and germ processing, and lignocellulosic materials. The modified animal feed may optionally include energy materials such as animal and vegetable fats, vegetable soapstocks, or glycerin, and combinations thereof.

The present invention provides a system and method for simplifying and accelerating the process of prototyping, real-world simulation, and implementation of virtually any task performance system or device, thereby dramatically reducing the design-to-implementation cycle time and expense. The inventive system includes a development system that provides a user, with visual tools to interactively and dynamically partition a previously designed visual system model of the task performance system or device, and then interactively or automatically assign the partitions to corresponding selectable target components, to produce a prototyped system ready for conversion to executable form suitable for implementation. The inventive system and method can also be readily used to automatically generate any instruction sets that are necessary for implementing the prototyped task performance system in actual target components of one or more emulation and/or production target systems. A novel automatic executable program code generation process that can be advantageously utilized is also provided in accordance with the present invention. Finally, the present invention may optionally include a data handling device that enables real-time monitoring and management of a remote target system from one or more user systems, as well as a set of tools for designing interactive visual instrument panels for that purpose.

An exhaust gas purification catalyst with improved hydrocarbon conversion is disclosed, which contains metals from the platinum group as its catalytically active components. Two superposed functional layers are applied to one support. The catalyst has a first functional layer with a mixture of a first catalyst with at least one zeolite and the second functional layer applied to the first functional layer which contains a mixture of a second catalyst and at least one zeolite. The zeolites exhibit a molar ratio of silicon dioxide / aluminum oxide of more than 40 and in that at least palladium and rhodium are present as the platinum group metals and are each contained separately from one another in only one of the two catalysts. The catalyst is distinguished by particularly good suppression of hydrocarbon emissions during cold-starting and exhibits particularly good long-term stability.
