Systems and methods for sensing physiologic parameters of the human body and achieving a therapeutic effect

Systems and methods for sensing physiological parameters in, on or around a human body and achieving a therapeutic effect based thereon. A network of various levels of component devices sense, process and communicate data between corresponding component devices, and self-organize into a hierarchy of peer groups of component devices to perform the task or function of the therapeutic effect upon completion of the tasks or functions of the various underlying levels of component devices. An overall Peer Group encompasses the various underlying levels of peer groups having the component devices therein. The sensing, computational, data distribution, communication or therapeutic effect tasks at the various levels are accomplished by the coordination of communication and functions between the plurality of relatively simple component devices of the network. Symmetric and asymmetric cryptography and other communication protocols are used to co-ordinate the tasks and functions of the component devices of the network. Therapeutic tasks such as drug delivery, executable actions, and stimuli delivery are thus efficiently distributed to a patient via the network. Component peer devices of the network can be implants, wearable devices with respect to a patient, or may be devices that are in the environment within which the patient is located.

Electronic document answering machine

An Electronic Document Answering Machine is adapted to connect to remote information sources and to download digital documents including e-mail and WEB pages, and to store the documents for later review by a user. The Answering machine has an alert device for alerting a user that new documents are available for review, and an initializing device for a user to cause documents to be communicated for review one-at-a-time. In a preferred embodiment documents are communicated over a speaker via voice synthesis. In an alternative preferred embodiment a small display is provided wherein documents may be displayed in alphanumeric characters. The answering machine can be implemented as a stand-alone device or can be connected via a serial port to a host PC for transferring documents to the PC for processing and review. In other embodiments the Answering Machine is implemented as a system in a PC, with alert and selective input added as an interface. The interface can be in a keyboard, and can be provided by existing keys and LEDs on a keyboard. An Answering Machine is also provided as a set-top-box for a TV, downloading digital documents from the Internet and providing the documents with user prompting to a TV via an audio / video output. prompting may be by infrared input from a remote controller.

Network access with delayed delivery

This invention provides a network access system that permits communication device users to access a network such as the Internet, a cable network, a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network or a broadband network (which may include cable and DSL networks). A network access device receives commands from users and executes the commands such as send e-mail, search the network, log on to pages supported by other parties on the network, download information from the network, request information such as movies from the network, bidding in an auction, etc. A user profile saves preferences of a user for interacting with the network. The network access device may supply primitive commands for the user to use individually or to construct complex command macros so that by a single command, more complex functions may be performed using the network. By the above described techniques, users who do not have access to devices such as a personal computer may access the network and take advantage of the rich resources available through the network.

Personal electronic device with a dual core processor

InactiveUS20110307723A1Reduce countImprove efficiency and power conservationEnergy efficient ICTDevices with sensorMulti-core processorNuclear engineering
A novel personal electronic device includes a processor having first (embedded) and second (non-embedded) cores including associated operating systems and functions. In one aspect, the first core performs relatively limited functions, while the second core performs relatively broader functions under control of the first core. Often the second core requires more power than the first core and is selectively operated by the first core to minimize overall power consumption. Protocols for functions to be performed by the second core may be provided directly to the second core and processed by the second core. In another aspect, a display controller is designed to interface with both cores. In another aspect, the operating systems work with one another. In another aspect, the first core employs a thermal control program. Advantages of the invention include a broad array of functions performed by relatively small personal electronics device.
