The invention relates to a long-glass fiber reinforced polyvinyl alcohol material and a preparation method thereof. The material contains the following components in parts by weight: 40-80 parts of long-glass fiber reinforced polyvinyl alcohol master batches, 0-40 parts of polyvinyl alcohol and 10-20 parts of a functional master batches. The invention further discloses a preparation method of thelong-glass fiber reinforced polyvinyl alcohol material. The long-glass fiber reinforced polyvinyl alcohol material has excellent mechanical strength, rigidity, heat resistance and dimensional stability which are far superior to long-glass fiber reinforced polypropylene materials and are comparable to long-glass fiber reinforced engineering plastics, but the long-glass fiber reinforced polyvinyl alcohol material is equal to general plastic and is far cheaper than engineering plastic; a formed product is light; meanwhile, the product is environment-friendly and biodegradable; besides, the product has excellent gas barrier property and oil resistance; and meanwhile, the material has strong adhesive strength to glass fibers, the after-treatment process of the surface of a glass fiber is omitted, the production process is relatively environment-friendly, and the production rate is relatively high.
