Compositions and methods using direct MMP inhibitors for inhibiting photoaging of skin

Compositions and methods are provided for ameliorating various effects of UVA and UVB radiation from the sun. The compositions include an ingredient that prevents photoaging from MED and subMED radiation, namely a direct acting MMP (matrix metalloproteinase) inhibitor. The compositions can include another, indirect MMP inhibitor, such as a retinoid, certain other compounds (such as N-acetylcysteine, 2-furildioxime, and vitamin C), tetracyclines, and if a retinoid is used then in addition optional compounds that inhibit the CYP-26 (chytochrome P-450) mediated metabolism of retinoids such as ketoconazole and other azole compounds. In the method, the composition is applied prior to exposure to the sun; for direct acting MMP inhibitors, application should be just prior to exposure, and if indirect inhibitors such as retinoids are used in addition, then application of the indirect inhibitor should be at least about seven hours prior to exposure. Compounds that prevent erythema (skin reddening, sunburn) do not necessarily protect against UV-mediated elevation of MMP levels and activity, and similarly compounds that prevent UV-mediated elevation of MMP levels and activity are not necessarily effective against UV-induced erythema.

The present invention is directed to a combination of a mercury arc lamp placed in a reflector bulb and an electronic ballast to ballast the same. Use of the combination for projecting UVB and UVC radiation is also taught. The combination finds particular application for reptiles and birds that require UVB radiation but low power. The invention can also be used as a germicide, a source of UV for human beings and to treat skin diseases such as psoriasis. It can further be used for curing materials. The combination is advantageously portable, and can be adapted to be clipped on to an object.

The cell nutrient solution prepared by the invention can solve the problem of alopecia from the point of cell regeneration; the ADSCs-conditioned medium (the nutrient solution), in a periodic hair follicle reconstruction process, can activate a stem cell microenvironment of hair follicle and can regulate and control the normal growth of the hair follicle; by conducting low-dose UVB radiation, ADSCs survival, migration and paracrine capacities can be significantly improved, and an angiogenesis capacity and a hair regeneration capacity can be also obviously improved; by cultivating the ADSCs with a fibroblast-conditioned medium, cell survival and metabolism processes in a body environment can be simulated, and the secretion of more cell factors, which are conducive to cell microenvironment regulation and control, from cells can be promoted; and meanwhile, the cell nutrient solution prepared by the method is convenient in cell preparation, broad in source and convenient for clinical popularization, and cells can be derived from fat wastes obtained from clinical liposuction and skin grafts removed in other surgical operations.

Theaflavin composition and application thereof

A theaflavin composition comprising: theaflavin-3 '-gallate, or a separation mixture of theaflavin-3 '-gallate and one or more of theaflavin, theaflavin-3'-gallate or theaflavin-3, 3 '-gallate, or salt or derivative, hydrate or solvent compound of theaflavin-3 '-gallate capable of being obtained in the field of skin care products, and a skin care product carrier or a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
