This method and system allow a subscriber to a cable television service to receiving a listing or menu of programming available for that subscriber's set-top terminal to upgrade or enhance the features available over the cable system. A Directory of Services (DoS) message is transmitted over the cable system to the subscriber's set-top terminal. The terminal can then display for the subscriber the menu of programming available. This display may include a price for downloading each programming object. The subscriber can then, using a remote control unit or a user input device on the terminal, direct the set-top terminal to acquire a listed programming object. The DoS message will provide information enabling the set-top terminal to download the indicated programming object from the cable system in response to the subscriber's input. The subscriber can then have immediate access to upgraded or enhanced programming, the purchase of which is billed to the subscriber's account.

The method thereof, which is simple and convenient, can sufficiently represent wide color gamut of laser display equipment and comprises the steps: 1) evenly sampling on RGB color cube surface and storing according to a set order; 2) computing the CIELUV values of sampling points under PLA-system color television standard color gamut and laser display color gamut, so as to form two color gamut boundaries; 3) evenly dividing RGB space into 16x16x16 small cubes and computing the CIELUV values of the peaks of the small cubes; in CIELUV space, solving the intersection points between a straight line, determined by inputting color points and a central point of lightness axis, and two color gamut boundaries; 4) determining the proportion for extension according to the ratio of two intersection points; 5) converting LUV values after extension into RGB drive values for the laser display equipment; and 6) storing the mapping values of the peaks of the small cubes, namely the obtained RGB drive values for the laser display equipment, in a three-dimensional lookup table to construct the color gamut mapping system, and implementing color gamut expansion mapping on any input RGB value in a manner of table lookup and interpolation.

To provide an A / D converting circuit capable of improving an S / N ratio regardless of a color television system. An over-sampling A / D converting circuit according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an A / D converter for over-sampling an analog video signal; a digital low-pass filter allowing passage of a signal component in a predetermined passing band out of the over-sampled signal; a down-sampling circuit for down-sampling the passed signal; and a color television system determining circuit for switching the passing band.
