4524 results about "Spatial distribution" patented technology

A spatial distribution is the arrangement of a phenomenon across the Earth's surface and a graphical display of such an arrangement is an important tool in geographical and environmental statistics. A graphical display of a spatial distribution may summarize raw data directly or may reflect the outcome of more sophisticated data analysis. Many different aspects of a phenomenon can be shown in a single graphical display by using a suitable choice of different colours to represent differences.

Lateral temperature equalizing system for large area surfaces during processing

In many processes used in fabricating semiconductors the wafer is seated on the top surface of a pedestal and heated in a high energy process step, such as plasma etching. The pedestal, chuck or platen may be cooling but the wafer gradually heats until the process can no longer continue. Where large, e.g. 300 mm diameter, wafers are being processed the temperature level across the wafer is difficult to maintain substantially constant. In this system and method the lateral temperature distribution is equalized by a heat sink structure in a chamber immediately under the wafer support on top of the pedestal. A number of spatially distributed wicking posts extend downwardly from a layer of wicking material across the top of the chamber, into a pool of a vaporizable liquid. At hot spots, vaporized liquid is generated and transported to adjacent condensation posts extending up from the liquid. The system thus passively extracts heat to equalize temperatures while recirculating liquid and assuring adequate supply. The free volume above and within the liquid, and the short distances between posts, assure adequate heat transfer rates.

Object location monitoring system

An object location monitoring system includes beacons that are spatially distributed throughout an area to be monitored. The beacons transmit interrogation signals that are received and echoed by transponders that attach to moveable objects. Each beacon retransmits its interrogation signal, and any transponder response thereto, to a receiver that measures a time difference between the two signals. This time difference reflects the signal propagation time, and thus the distance, between the beacon and the transponder. One such receiver preferably analyzes the retransmitted signals of multiple (e.g., 50 to 100) beacons. A triangulation method is used to determine the location of each transponder based on the transponder's distances from a set of beacons. In one embodiment, the transponders are provided as or within disposable ID bracelets worn by patients, and are used to track the locations of the patients within a hospital.

Multifocal imaging systems and method

In the systems and methods of the present invention a multifocal multiphoton imaging system has a signal to noise ratio (SNR) that is reduced by over an order of magnitude at imaging depth equal to twice the mean free path scattering length of the specimen. An MMM system based on an area detector such as a multianode photomultiplier tube (MAPMT) that is optimized for high-speed tissue imaging. The specimen is raster-scanned with an array of excitation light beams. The emission photons from the array of excitation foci are collected simultaneously by a MAPMT and the signals from each anode are detected using high sensitivity, low noise single photon counting circuits. An image is formed by the temporal encoding of the integrated signal with a raster scanning pattern. A deconvolution procedure taking account of the spatial distribution and the raster temporal encoding of collected photons can be used to improve decay coefficient. We demonstrate MAPMT-based MMM can provide significantly better contrast than CCD-based existing systems.

Wireless wearable big data brain machine interface

A wireless wearable high data throughput (big data) brain machine interface apparatus is presented. An implanted recording and transmitting module collects neural data from a plurality of implanted electrodes and wirelessly transmits this over a short distance to a wearable (not implanted) receiving and forwarding module, which communicates the data over a wired communication to a mobile post processing device. The post processing device can send this neural data to an external display or computer enabled device for viewing and / or manipulation. High data throughput is supported by aggregating multiple groups of electrodes by multiple n-channel recording elements, which are multiplexed and then modulated into high frequency wireless communications to the wearable module. Embodiments include use of multiple radiators (multiple polarizations and / or spatially distributed), with beam alignment adjustment.

Method of determining the amount of particulate accumulated in a particulate filter

A method of determining the amount of particulate accumulated in a particulate filter, is based on determining possible variations in the spatial distribution and / or physical-chemical properties of the particulate as a function of engine operating conditions and past particulate accumulation in the particulate filter. A number of reference values defining a relationship between the amount of particulate accumulated in the particulate filter and the pressure drop across the particulate filter are mapped, each of the reference values relating to a respective steady engine operating condition in which particulate is accumulated in the particulate filter. In a given engine operating condition, an operating value of the parameter is then determined as a function of the reference value of the parameter relative to the same steady engine operating condition, and of past particulate accumulation in the particulate filter.

Method and system for segmentation, classification, and summarization of video images

In a technique for video segmentation, classification and summarization based on the singular value decomposition, frames of the input video sequence are represented by vectors composed of concatenated histograms descriptive of the spatial distributions of colors within the video frames. The singular value decomposition maps these vectors into a refined feature space. In the refined feature space produced by the singular value decomposition, the invention uses a metric to measure the amount of information contained in each video shot of the input video sequence. The most static video shot is defined as an information unit, and the content value computed from this shot is used as a threshold to cluster the remaining frames. The clustered frames are displayed using a set of static keyframes or a summary video sequence. The video segmentation technique relies on the distance between the frames in the refined feature space to calculate the similarity between frames in the input video sequence. The input video sequence is segmented based on the values of the calculated similarities. Finally, average video attribute values in each segment are used in classifying the segments.
