A system and method for communicating data and signals through the Medical Implant Communication Service Band using a repeater or base station in the proximity to an implantable device within a patient is disclosed. One or more median filter circuits are used to filter radio link control measurements corresponding to one or more radio link parameters of interest, such as received signal quality or round trip delay measurements, such as might be used by a base station to trigger mobile station handoff. As such measurements are particularly susceptible to measurement outliers arising from rapid but short-lived changes in radio link propagation paths, for example, the application of median filtering to such measurements is particularly advantageous. That is, by operation of median filtering, which is a non-linear filtering process, outliers in a stream of control measurements, such as are caused by instantaneous changes in channel fading or other propagation phenomena, are discarded rather than averaged in with the other measurements. Non-linear filtering as implemented by exemplary median filtering does not impair or otherwise limit the bandwidth of the underlying control measurements.

An apparatus for monitoring the exhaust of an engine includes a flow-through chamber for receiving exhaust, a source of electromagnetic radiation and a detector. Method and apparatus for computer-aided determination of viewer's gaze direction

The corneal reflex method is used to detect the current direction of view (VD) of a user (UE) to perform specifically selected functions on a computer. Eye vectors (EV) can be detected between the pupil center (ZP) and reflection points (RP) on the cornea (CA) that can be associated with a fixation point (FP) on a computer screen using infrared light (IRS). The association is produced as a function of the direction of view (VDF), so the relationship is detected during an initial calibration (C) by a referenced user (RE) to develop a set of reference eye vectors (EVR). A shorter self-balancing recalibration (RC) is then carried out for each subsequent user (UE). A mapping function (MF) is detected during the recalibration (RC) so that the individual eye vectors (EVU) can be converted to the reference eye vectors (EVR) by the mapping function. The recalibration (RC) can take place without the user (UE) realizing it. The method is useful in medical diagnostics, psycho-optical examinations and eye-controlled interaction with multimedia computers.

System and method for improved time-interleaved analog-to-digital converter arrays which reduces sampling mismatch distortion found in prior art arrays. There may be two causes of non-uniform sampling mismatch in a TI-ADC array, a mismatch due to skew and a mismatch due to clock jitter. To minimize non-uniform sampling mismatch, the mismatch due to skew can be addressed. A preferred embodiment comprises adjusting a delay imparted on the sampling clock by an adjustable delay in each channel of a plurality of channels in the TI-ADC array to minimize skew and randomly switching between two delays that span a zero-skew delay to reduce residual skew in each channel and thus eliminate (or reduce) frequency domain tones caused by non-uniform sampling mismatch.
