The invention discloses a battery management method and system applicable to an echelon battery. The method comprises the steps of performing monitoring treatment on one group of parallel single batteries through a slave, wherein the monitoring treatment comprises the steps of monitoring the voltage and temperature of the batteries, monitoring the current distribution of each parallel branch and performing dissipation type balance on one group of parallel single batteries; and determining the state of a whole battery pack through a host according to the monitoring treatment result of the single battery group, wherein the system comprises a storage and a processor. By virtue of the method, management on each single battery in the battery pack is realized; in addition, each slave only manages one group of parallel single batteries; when one battery is damaged and needs to be replaced, only the corresponding slave is processed, so that maintenance complexity is greatly lowered, and high efficiency is achieved; and in addition, the battery pack has diversified battery types, so that the system can be applicable to the echelon battery, is high in practicability, and can be widely applied to the fields of battery monitoring and control.
