Linear actuator

A linear actuator useful for adjusting furniture includes a housing (1) with a reversible electric-motor (2) which, via a transmission (11, 13), drives a spindle (4) with a force absorbing bearing (16). On the spindle there is a nut (5) to which an actuation rod (86) is fixed surrounded by an outer tube (7). The actuator is with the actuation rod and a rear mounting mounted in the construction into which the actuator should be built-in. The motor housing is part of the supporting construction, as a console is fixed to this (10) with a fixing for the outer tube, spindle bearing and a rear mounting and is designed to absorb the forces occurring hereon. As the housing, as with previously known actuators, need not absorb and transfer forces, this can be made as a thin shell.

Heat sealing element and control of same

A vacuum packaging appliance for heat sealing items in a vacuum packaging plastic bag is disclosed. The appliance comprises a lid adapted to define a vacuum chamber when it is moved to a closed position relative to a trough in the base of the device. Adjacent to a trough in the lower portion of the device, a heat sealing element is placed in order to seal the contents of the bag once the vacuum packaging is complete. In another embodiment, the heat sealing element is mounted on the lid of the device and comes into contact with the vacuum bag when the lid is in a closed position. The heat sealing elements are controlled by a controller that allows operator selections of seals and sealing time adjustments based on inputs from a plurality of sensors. The controller is further able to energize one or two of the heating elements based on predetermined conditions. The methods and structures described control both heating and cooling of the heat sealing elements. The vacuum pump exhaust may also be directed below the heat sealing elements in order to cool the elements. The control and placement of the heat sealing elements allows for precise feedback and temperature control of the elements and therefore ensuring proper vacuum sealing of the containers.

Rocket motor joint construction including thermal barrier

A thermal barrier for extremely high temperature applications consists of a carbon fiber core and one or more layers of braided carbon fibers surrounding the core. The thermal barrier is preferably a large diameter ring, having a relatively small cross-section. The thermal barrier is particularly suited for use as part of a joint structure in solid rocket motor casings to protect low temperature elements such as the primary and secondary elastomeric O-ring seals therein from high temperature gases of the rocket motor. The thermal barrier exhibits adequate porosity to allow pressure to reach the radially outward disposed O-ring seals allowing them to seat and perform the primary sealing function. The thermal barrier is disposed in a cavity or groove in the casing joint, between the hot propulsion gases interior of the rocket motor and primary and secondary O-ring seals. The characteristics of the thermal barrier may be enhanced in different applications by the inclusion of certain compounds in the casing joint, by the inclusion of RTV sealant or similar materials at the site of the thermal barrier, and / or by the incorporation of a metal core or plurality of metal braids within the carbon braid in the thermal barrier structure.

The first body comprises a first cylindric side wall and a crucible bottom connected to the end part of the first side wall. The second body comprises a second cylindric side wall. The heat conductivity coefficient of the second body is larger than the heat conductivity coefficient of the first body. A heating part for heating the crucible is usually set on the first body, so that when heat is conducted from the first body to the second body, heat loss can be reduced because the heat conductivity coefficient of the second body is larger, and the temperature at the crucible opening of the second body is higher relatively, thus reducing even avoiding condensation of an evaporation material on the crucible opening so as to reduce a sealing phenomenon. The temperature difference between the crucible opening of the second body and the crucible bottom of the first body is small, so that a material in the crucible is heated evenly and burst explosion phenomena caused by uneven heating are reduced.
