3061 results about "Filling-in" patented technology

In vision, filling-in phenomena are those responsible for the completion of missing information across the physiological blind spot, and across natural and artificial scotomata. There is also evidence for similar mechanisms of completion in normal visual analysis. Classical demonstrations of perceptual filling-in involve filling in at the blind spot in monocular vision, and images stabilized on the retina either by means of special lenses, or under certain conditions of steady fixation. For example, naturally in monocular vision at the physiological blind spot, the percept is not a hole in the visual field, but the content is “filled-in” based on information from the surrounding visual field. When a textured stimulus is presented centered on but extending beyond the region of the blind spot, a continuous texture is perceived. This partially inferred percept is paradoxically considered more reliable than a percept based on external input. (Ehinger et al. 2017).

Method and system for combining multiple exposure images having scene and camera motion

A panoramic high-dynamic range (HDR) image method and system of combining multiple images having different exposures and at least partial spatial overlap wherein each of the images may have scene motion, camera motion, or both. The major part of the panoramic HDR image method and system is a two-pass optimization-based approach that first defines the position of the objects in a scene and then fills in the dynamic range when possible and consistent. Data costs are created to encourage radiance values that are both consistent with object placement (defined by the first pass) and of a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Seam costs are used to ensure that transitions occur in regions of consistent radiances. The result is a high-quality panoramic HDR image having the full available spatial extent of the scene along with the full available exposure range.

Digital image system and method for implementing an adaptive demosaicing method

An adaptive demosaicing method interpolates images based on color edge detection and neighborhood voting. The adaptive demosaicing algorithm uses a voting scheme to determine the direction of interpolation at each missing luminance pixel location. Each color plane votes either horizontal or vertical based on a comparison between the horizontal and vertical components of the degree of change (i.e., gradient, Laplacian or other measure of the degree of change) in that color plane. Votes are counted from the neighborhood pixels as well as from measurements taken at the pixel location itself. Once the luminance plane is fully interpolated, the chrominance planes are filled in by simple bilinear or median interpolation of difference chrominance values. Enhancements to the adaptive demosaicing algorithm permit adaptive smoothing and sharpening.

Information autocompletion system

A communication system enters information into enabled fields of a hypertext based page when a hot-linked identifier is activated by a user. The preferred implementation fills in recipient information when a sender clicks on a hot-linked contact name. The click calls a JavaScript that searches for enabled fields and fills in recipient information from a contact database when it finds an enabled field. The recipient could be defined by an e-mail address, a user name, or other unique identifier, and the information being transmitted to the recipient can be e-mail messages, data files, another user's data, and other types of information that can be transmitted electronically. The preferred implementation resides on a Web server hosting a service to which users can subscribe, at which point the users acquire member status and member names. The members can create contact databases that the system presents in a contacts frame when the member views pages on which the contact information can be used. If the member goes to a page from which the member can send a message, transfer a file, etc., the member simply clicks on a contact listed in the contacts frame, calling the field filler function that looks for enabled fields and puts appropriate information in the enabled fields. For example, the field filler can place an e-mail address or member name in a recipient field.

Object detection in images

The invention applies a segmentation operation to an input image to identify foreground objects of interest, and then applies a shadow removal operation to remove any detected shadows from the foreground segmentation. The shadow removal algorithms can leave holes and bisections in the segmentation map, however, which will then subsequently impact on an object detection step performed using connected component analysis. To get around this problem, the invention applies a conditional morphological dilation operation to the segmentation map to ‘grow’ the segmented blobs to fill in any holes and bisections, without re-growing shadow pixels in the segmentation. The result is an object detection method and system which is robust to illumination changes causing shadows and / or highlights.
