Smart seatbelt control system

InactiveUS20070096447A1Reducing potential of serious injury and deathReduce fatalityBelt retractorsElectric devicesOccupant safetyControl system
An apparatus for preventing occupant injury during accident has various features to ensure safety. A sensor 70, detecting seat belt engagement is provided. In addition, there is a means for varying the tension of a seatbelt 17, depending upon the weight of the occupant 110 and the speed of the vehicle carrying the occupant 110. When the occupant 110 seats on any of the seats 17, the load cell switch 18 will close, allowing the load cell output energy to energize the control module 25. The control module 25 will then enables the counter 50 to count the number of closed load cell switches 18. The control module 25 further enables an optoisolator switch configured with the sensor 70 to then energize a latching relay 80 operatively configured to check the seat belt latching of all occupied seats 10 with closed load cell switches 18, to assure occupants safety. The load cells are configured with strain gauges and temperature sensors to ensure human occupants. Such that, when the switch 18 for the occupied seat 10 is closed, the latching relay 80 circuit is energized so that the seat belt 17 for the occupied seat location is checked for buckling. The latching relay 80 circuit and the counter 50 circuit are operatively configured and closed only when an occupant 110 takes any of the seats 10. The latching relay switch 85 is only energized when the counter circuit 50 is closed.

Protective cover for baby seats

A protective cover (10) is disclosed that can be interchanged among a variety of baby seats. It includes a canopy (11) and a sealing element (22) that can interchangeably and flexibly seal around a variety of baby seats. It may also contain a removable hood (20) that may shield a portion of an insect resistant mesh (15) so that a side mesh (15b) remains open for air and viewing of the occupant under the protective cover (10). Furthermore, the hood (20) may be attached at an approximate midpoint (26) of the canopy (11) to allow versatility in deploying the hood in a rearward direction and fastening the hood with attachment element (38). Likewise, the hood (20) may be folded in a forward direction and attached with attachment element (38) to a forward contour of a baby seat. The protective cover may include a protective foot shield (14) located under the hood (20) that may protect, for instance, feet of an occupant from a stinger or biting proboscis of a flying insect when the feet may touch the inside surfaces of the cover. Another feature of the present invention may include the ability of the present invention to be folded to a reduced state for easy storage and held in the reduced state by an integral restraining element which could be the hood (20). Another feature could be an inclement weather filtering configuration of mesh that could be located on the side to filter light, for instance, to a reduced level for the occupant's comfort.

Intraocular lenses having a visible light-selective-transmissive-region

Intraocular lenses are provided having a visible-light selective transmissive zone defined therein. The visible light-selective transmissive zone can be located near the lens center and designed to reduce the transmission of any wave-length of visible light specifically light in the blue light region having wavelength between approximately 400 λ to 550 λ. In one embodiment he IOLs are made from acrylates and the light absorbing compound is a yellow dye.

Wrist pouch for electronic equipment

A pouch forms a cavity for holding a portable electronic device, a front panel of the pouch defines a viewing opening through which a display screen of the electronic device can be viewed during use, and an adjustable strap or other arm-mounting coupling is used to secure the pouch and the electronic device to a user's arm. A cover panel extends from the pouch and can be moved from a closed position covering and protecting the display screen to an open position exposing the display screen for viewing during use. In a parked open position the cover is held in place with the display screen exposed for use.

Optimization method of simultaneous harvest and reclamation opportunity based on mining subsidence simulation and second ploughing rate

The invention discloses an optimization method of simultaneous harvest and reclamation opportunity of single coal layer based on mining subsidence simulation and second ploughing rate, relates to dynamic mining subsidence prediction and GIS (Geographic Information System) analysis processing, and belongs to the field of mining technology, land utilization and land rehabilitation, and the method is used for solving the problem of unstable mining subsidence land reclamation and realizing the simultaneous harvest and reclamation of underground coal mine regions. The method comprises the steps of: considering the subsidence visual simulation of landform before mining, the ground subsidence scene simulation of time domain and the optimization of the simultaneous harvest and reclamation opportunity based on the second ploughing rate on the basis of onsite file collection and analysis and based on a probability integral method and a mining subsidence predict of Knothe time function. The method disclosed by the invention performs dynamic scene simulation and reclamation opportunity optimization on the subsidence to determine the optimal reclamation opportunity under special mining conditions and natural conditions, thereby rescuing the precious surface soil resources of plain mining areas to the uttermost and planning, protecting and treating the lands to be suffered from subsidence damage in advance, so as to improve the reclamation rate, reduce the reclamation cost, promote the sustainable utilization and sustainable development of mining area land resources, and guarantee the coordination and synchronous development of coal resource mining and cultivated land protection.

Seat belt system including an airbag

A seat belt system, in one form, includes a buckle anchored along the side of the seat, a tongue slidably mounted on the seat belt for being latched in the buckle to define the shoulder and lap belt portions, and a retractor for pay in and pay out of the seat belt into and out from the retractor. The airbag is fixed to the tongue and configured for sliding along the seat belt so that with the tongue latched in the buckle the airbag extends along the same position irrespective of the size of the occupant. Alternatively, the airbag is fixed to a guide loop adjacent to the shoulder of the occupant and configured to allow for sliding of the seat belt relative thereto so that with the tongue latched in the buckle the airbag extends from the same position and across the occupant's torso irrespective of the size of the occupant.
