Low extractable, thermoplastic syringe and tip cap

InactiveUS20050075611A1Low extractable levelWithout loss of flexible and resilient propertyAmpoule syringesLavatory sanitoryThermoplastic elastomerPrefilled Syringe
A prefilled syringe and syringe assembly having a syringe and a tip cap are produced from materials that do not interfere with the substance contained in the syringe and enable long term storage. The tip cap is made from a blend of a cyclic olefin polymer or copolymer and a thermoplastic elastomer. The thermoplastic elastomer is blended with the cyclic olefin copolymer in an amount so that the normally stiff and hard cyclic olefin copolymer is flexible and resilient to effectively seal and couple to the tip of a prefilled syringe.

Peelable pouch for transdermal patch and method for packaging

A peelable pouch comprises a substantially flat enclosure formed by first and second opposing flexible plies. A seal extends along at least a portion of a perimeter of the opposing plies. A flat, flexible transdermal patch is disposed in the enclosure and includes a bioactive agent dissolved in a layer of adhesive. A release liner is removably attached over the layer of adhesive, with the patch and the release liner together being sufficiently resilient so as to generate a spring force when displaced out of the flat configuration. The first and the second plies each being separable along the seal and displaceable out of the flat configuration. The spring force generated by the patch and the release liner being sufficient to overcome an adhesive force created by the adhesive between the patch and one of the plies.

Shock absorber for cosmetic compact

InactiveUS20080011320A1Compact designMinimizes and eliminates damageFlexible coversWrappersEngineeringShock absorber
A shock absorber member is provided in a cosmetic compact to isolate a pan containing cosmetic product such as a pressed powder foundation, from impacts and vibration that might cause the product to crack or crumble. The shock absorber has at least two arched portions suspending the pan in a clearance in a base of the cosmetic compact. The arched portions are sufficiently resilient to allow the pan to move within the clearance relative to the base. The arched portions prevent shocks, impacts or vibrations from being transmitted to the pan from the base.

Energy Absorbing Vehicle Hood Assembly with Asymmetric Sandwich Inner Structure

An energy-absorbing hood assembly for a vehicle includes upper, lower, and middle panels. The upper and lower panels respectively include first and second interface surfaces. The upper panel is preferably secured to an inner surface of an outer panel. The middle panel has opposing first and second surfaces defining an asymmetric waveform profile, preferably having a polygonal geometry. The middle panel member is secured to the first and second interface surfaces at preselected locations along the upper and lower surfaces, thereby defining a plurality of laterally oriented asymmetric channels. The asymmetric waveform profile is configured with distinct amplitudes and wavelengths along different regions of the hood assembly, each configured to provide different predetermined levels of absorption and attenuation of kinetic energy imparted to the hood assembly by objects upon impact therebetween. Ideally, the lower and middle panels are respectively configured to controllably fail at first and second predetermined crush loads.

Antimicrobial cut-resistant composite yarn and garments knitted or woven therefrom

An antimicrobial, cut-resistant composite yarn has a core including at least one cut-resistant strand, and a cover including at least one strand wrapped around and enclosing the core. At least one strand in either the core or the cover is treated with and incorporates an antimicrobial compound. In addition, the yarn can include one or more channel fibers to facilitate movement of moisture within the composite yarn so that the moisture contacts the antimicrobial compound, thereby enhancing the efficacy of the antimicrobial compound. The yarn can be used to fabricate cut-resistant garments, such as gloves, worn by meat cutters and others who work with knives, saws and other sharp implements. The antimicrobial effect reduces bacteria, mold and fungi growth on the garments between washings.

Pallet

A pallet for receiving and transporting loads, having an upper platform for receiving the loads, and a substructure, which supports the upper platform and is constructed of an upper part and a lower part and several support members inserted between them. A good shock absorption, along with a rugged construction, is achieved because the support members each is of a held-together bundle of spike-like individual elements, which extend between the upper part and the lower part, can be laterally deflected with respect to each other and have damping properties.

High-capacity toner cartridge and toner agitator

This invention provides an agitator blade and toner cartridge employing such an agitator blade that enables a higher capacity of toner while lowering the load exerted by the print engine motor as toner is agitated. This blade and cartridge also allows for greater efficiency at low toner levels as the blade is brought closer to the inner wall of the cartridge toner tank. The blade consists of an axially directed axle shaft having a plurality of rigid, radially directed ribs that extend to a location proximate to the inner wall of the tank. A plurality of cross bar members are mounted between each pair of ribs. Each cross bar includes axially extended, rib-engaging wings. The wings are mounted so that the cross bars are generally prevented from passing between the ribs when the cross bars are driven by the ribs in the normal direction of agitator rotation. However, the wings are sufficiently resilient so that a predetermined level of toner resistance at high fill levels causes the wings and cross bars to elastically deform and pass through the ribs, leaving only the thinner ribs to traverse the toner in that cycle. The toner cartridge can include a volume extension member that is sized to fit within the empty space of a corresponding print engine. The cartridge can also include a compound angle doctor blade for better toner distribution.

Piston head assembly for radio controlled cars shock absorber and method

The present invention comprises an apparatus and method for a piston head assembly for an R / C car shock absorber which provides for differing flow rates through the piston depending on whether the piston is presently in rebound or compression movement. One preferred embodiment consists of a one piece construction piston with a central recess further comprising at least first and second one way valve holes, and a plurality of two way valve holes surrounding the central recess. A sealing member can fit within the recess whereby the sealing member keeps the first and second one way valve holes generally closed. When fluid flow contacts the sealing member during the rebound stroke, fluid flows through the first and second one way valve holes to move the sealing member thereby providing more fluid flow and a quicker rebound damping response.

An apparatus and method for a piston head assembly for an R / C car shock absorber provides for differing flow rates through the piston depending on whether the piston is presently in rebound or compression movement. A piston head may be constructed with a plurality of separate recesses further having at least first and second one way valve holes and a plurality of two way valve holes surrounding the central recess. In one embodiment, two sealing members fit within two separate recesses whereby the sealing member keeps the first and second one way valve holes generally closed. When fluid flow contacts the sealing member during the rebound stroke, fluid flows through the first and second one way valve holes moves the seal member to the open position thereby providing more fluid flow and a quicker rebound damping response.
